After a heap of speculation Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig have officially been cast in the lead roles of David Fincher’s three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s enormously successful ‘The Millennium Trilogy’. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – the first film of the series will start shooting next month in Sweden.

I’ve always been a fan of Daniel Craig, I think he’ll be a great as Mikael Blomkvist. To be perfectly honest I haven’t seen Rooney Mara in many films so I’m a bit undecided on that pick, she’s starring in Fincher’s upcoming movie The Social Network, so she must have impressed. Noomi Rapace gave such a gripping performance in the Swedish speaking adaptation, she’ll be a tough act to follow. I’ve got complete faith in David Fincher though, he’s put out a so many gems. His movies are consistently a feast for your eyes and mind.

Stieg Larsson’s trilogy is one of the major literary success stories of the last decade, they have sold more than 40 million copies worldwide so far – big BIG £¥$€’s! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo comes to theaters December 12th, 2011 and stars Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgård. The film is directed by David Fincher.
