The cast for Marc Webb‘s 3D reboot of Spider-Man seems to be shaping up nicely. All confirmed are Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spideman, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy – Peter’s love interest, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Sally Field as Aunt May and Rhys Ifans as villain Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard. Now in negotiations to join that list is Denis Leary (Wide Awake, Rescue Me) for the role of police captain George Stacy, Gwen Stacy’s father. Zooey Deschanel, John Slattery and the man with the greatest moustache on earth Sam Elliott, are rumoured for roles in the film.

I’ve got high hopes for this reboot. Marc Webb directed ‘(500) Days Of Summer‘, a film I thoroughly enjoyed. A HUUUUUGGGGE achievement considering my devout hatred of romantic comedies! Spider-Man swings back onto the big screen in 3D on July 3rd, 2012. The film will begin production in December and is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad will produce the film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios.
