Cobie Smulders The Favourite To Play S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill In ‘The Avengers’
On a recent appearance on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ Samuel L. Jackson revealed that Nick Fury will have a female sidekick in Joss Whedon’s superhero ensemble The Avengers. A few days later Jessica Lucas, Cobie Smulders, Morena Baccarin and Mary Elizabeth Winstead were announced as the favourites for the part.
Today Deadline have revealed that Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) has emerged as the front runner for the role of SHIELD Agent Maria Hill in the film. In the comics Hill was the ruthless interim executive director of SHIELD, who was not above blackmailing and bullying superheroes to get her way.
The Avengers comes to cinemas May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Clark Gregg, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Tom Hiddleston.
