Edgar Ramirez/Michael Shannon To Play A Villain In Zack Snyder’s Upcoming Superman Movie? UPDATE
Those astute insiders over at Latinoreview have caught wind that the Domino, Vantage Point, Bourne Ultimatum and Carlos star Edgar Ramirez “is supposedly being eyed for a villain role in Zack Snyder’s Superman film.”
There’s no idea what role Ramirez is reportedly in the running for, Viggo Mortensen had previously been linked to play General Zod but that rumour was batted down by Zack Snyder earlier this week.
Details in the report are incredibly vague as the secrecy surrounding this project tight. Ramirez gave arguably the most multi layered and supreme performance of 2010 in the 5 hour mini-series/movie Carlos. Ramirez is currently filming the Clash of the Titans sequel Wrath of the Titans.
UPDATE: Deadline report that there is some interest in Michael Shannon portraying the villain. Shannon is coming off a memorable first season in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. I’ve been a massive fan of Shannon, he has no equal when it comes to playing f*cked up weirdo’s zany characters.
