oz abigail spencer Abigail Spencer Cast In Sam Raimis ‘Oz, The Great and Powerful’

The Hollywood Reporter bring word that Abigail Spencer, best known for her role in ’Mad Men,’ has been cast in Sam Raimi’s Wizard Of Oz spin-off ‘Oz, The Great and Powerful’ as “a young woman who is a willing subject of Oz’s magic tricks which the erstwhile magician is performing in Kansas.”

Spencer will star alongside James Franco as the titular Oz, Rachel Weisz as Evanora, a powerful, evil witch who intends to rule the land, Michelle Williams in the role of Glinda, the Good Witch, and Mila Kunis as Theadora, the younger sister of Evanorah who goes on to become the Wicked Witch of the West and to cackle the iconic lines “I’ll get you, my pretty … and your little dog, too!”

The film is said to follow Oz (Franco) as a young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a travelling circus. His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the magical land of Oz. ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ is pencilled in for a 2013 release. I’m loving these casting apointments, which when added to the fact that I’m a humongous Sam Raimi fan pretty much means I’m sold on this flick already!
