Paramount Pictures have announced that Marc Forster’s ‘World War Z’ has been officially set for release December 21st, 2012 – adding the film to an already tantalising month of film. December 2012 also sees the release of ‘Life Of Pi,’ Quentin Tarantino‘s ‘Django Unchained, ‘Lone Ranger’ and  ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.’

Based on Max Brooks’ rather fantastic post-apocalyptic zombie novel, and featuring a stellar cast in the likes of Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Anthony Mackie, Julia Levy-Boeken, Bryan Cranston and James Badge Dale, ‘World War Z’ is without doubt one of my most anticipated movies of 2012. Directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace, The Kite Runner), ‘World War Z’ details the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse from the perspective of survivors as varied as mercenaries, US government officials, and impoverished Palestinians.

Set 10 years after a global zombie epidemic, ’World War z’ follows Max Brooks (Brad Pitt), who driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet. He recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living, or at least the undead, hell of that dreadful time. ‘World War Z’ is the result. ‘World War Z’ is currently shooting for a 2012 release date through Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.
