Fast Five is out on Blu-Ray and DVD in the UK September 5th. It’s set for home release in the US October 4th. Check out what Jordana Brewster had to say about the film below.

You character becomes a bit of a badass in this film.

Jordana Brewster: (Laughs) Yeah, this movie was the most fun for me because in the past Mia’s been more of a “girl,” she’s been more docile and vulnerable. It was really important for Justin Lin to make the characters, especially the female characters, really strong, to be in it, doing the action. One day I came to the set and there was a harness in my trailer, I was like, ‘what is that for?’ It was for a 30 foot drop (laughs). It was so gratifying to finally do that though, to do the action, and not only the stunt driving, literally jumping off roofs. It was so much fun.

The movie brings so many characters back as well…

Jordana Brewster: Yeah, they each serve really important purposes. I think Tyrese Gibson brings a lot of the comic relief, which I think is really important because everything can get so intense with the non-stop action, each set piece is so huge, each action sequence outdoes the other one. Then with Tyrese and the group scenes, it’s a little bit of comic relief.

There‘s some immense action scenes in this film.

Jordana Brewster: Definitely, we had a bunch of different units going at once. It would be like, ‘the Arizona unit is doing this, look what they accomplished today.’ The train sequence, the train sequence is insane. Then Justin got more funding to do the Bus crash at the beginning, which I won’t say much about because it reveals a lot. It was amazing what Justin Lin accomplished with this movie.

Family is very important in this movie.

Jordana Brewster: Yeah, I think that’s partially why the fans keep coming back. At the core of the franchise is this sense of family, and loyalty. Yes, the characters do need money and they do pull off a huge heist, but they only come together in Brazil because they are so loyal to one another, that sense of family and loyalty amongst this group.

How was Dwayne Johnson’s addition to the cast?

Jordana Brewster: He’s insane, he’s such a charismatic and wonderful person. I was a fan of his from the beginning, so to know that I was going to be able to be in a movie with him was such a gift. This franchise just keeps on growing and every time I’m in one of these movies it’s such a gift. He was a lot of fun, he loves fooling around.
