Jeremy Renner Talks ‘The Bourne Legacy’ – Reveals His Characters Name & Treadstone’s Involvement
Jeremy Renner recently revealed to Empire a number of details regarding Tony Gilroy’s Bourne spinoff, ‘The Bourne Legacy,’ including his characters name and whether Treadstone will be involved: “My character is called Aaron Cross, but he ends up having a bunch of different names. For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it’s a new programme and new characters.” So is Treadstone still involved? “Yeah, it’s that same deal, it’s just a new set of agents with a different leash. It’s the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger. The differences are pretty vast but you’ll know it’s a Bourne movie.”
Writer/Director Tony Gilroy wrote the previous three Bourne movies along with ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ and ‘Michael Clayton’ (which he also directed) – each thoroughly thumbs up worthy movies. Also to point out, while the film shares a title with the book ‘The Bourne Legacy’ by Eric Van Lustbader – the first book in the series after original writer Robert Ludlum’s death – Gilroy says it’s a stand alone script that does not follow the same plot. The film will feature a whole new hero (Jeremy Renner) in the same universe as the first three Bourne films, though the character of Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) will be absent. ‘The Bourne Legacy’ comes to cinemas August 3rd, 2012. The likes of Ed Norton, Oscar Isaac Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Stacy Keach, Rachel Weisz and Scott Glenn co-star.
