Richard Schiff To Play Dr. Hamilton In Zack Snyder’s Superman Movie ‘Man of Steel’
While the film has been shooting since August, Variety report that Emmy winner Richard Schiff has joined the cast of Zack Snyder’s upcoming ‘Superman: Man of Steel.’ Schiff has apparently joined the cast as “Dr. Hamilton,” whom in the comics is described as Superman’s “scientific advisor.” It is currently unknown where Dr. Hamilton’s loyalties will lie in ‘Man Of Steel.’ In the comics Dr Hamilton has been an ally to Superman, yet in recent years, Hamilton has been written as a villain.
Schiff joins an already stellar cast with Henry Cavill playing Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as the plucky journalist Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora, Laurence Fishburn as Perry White, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Superman’s Kryptonian father, Ayelet Zureras as Superman’s Kryptonian mother Lara Lor-Van, Kevin Costner as Superman/Clarke’s adoptive father Jonathan Kent, and Diane Lane, who plays his wife Martha. Written by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan, the ‘Man of Steel’ is set for release June 14th, 2013.
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”
