Sequel To James Wan’s ‘Insidious’ Planned – Creative Team Behind The First Film To Return
Considering that the original ‘Insidious’ made $155 million worldwide from a budget of $1.5 million, it was always a matter of when, not if we would see a sequel to James Wan’s well-received horror film. The news of a sequel comes courtesy of Variety, who are reporting that a follow-up is currently in the works for a 2013 release. The creative team behind the first film are involved, with James Wan in talks to direct again and Leigh Whannell on board to script. Jason Blum will again produce through his Blumhouse Prods. shingle with Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Oren Peli and Steven Schneider exec producing.
The original ‘Insidious’ starred Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne as parents confronting the demons that possessed their young son. Wan and Whannell are keeping the plot of the sequel under wraps. Wan will next direct Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the supernatural thriller ‘The Conjuring.’ That film centers on a husband and wife team (Wilson, Farmiga) of demonologists and psychic investigators who enter the most horrifying case of their career, spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse. ‘The Conjuring’ is set to start filming in March.
