Screendaily confirms that Ralph Fiennes is set to follow up his brilliant directorial debut ’Coriolanus’ with the period-drama ‘The Invisible Woman.’ Fiennes will direct and star alongside Kristin Scott Thomas and Felicity Jones. Both Fiennes and Scott Thomas were Oscar-nominated for their performances as lovers in Anthony Minghella’s epic ‘The English Patient,’ which bagged nine Oscars in total.

Adapted by Abi Morgan (Shame, The Iron Lady) from Claire Tomalin’s acclaimed biography, the film tells the true story of the secret love affair between Charles Dickens and his mistress Nelly Ternan. Fiennes will also be seen as Magwitch in Mike Newell‘s adaptation of Dickens’ ‘Great Expectations’ later this year. Filming is set to begin on ‘The Invisible Woman’ in the UK on April 23rd.
