Debut Clip From Andrew Dominik’s ‘Killing Them Softly’
Showcasing Sam Shepard and Slaine roughing up Ray Liotta, this debut clip has emerged online for Andrew Dominik’s upcoming crime film ‘Killing Them Softly’ (originally titled ‘Cogan’s Trade’). Dominik was the man behind ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,’ without a doubt one of my favourite movies of the last decade. ‘Killing Them Softly’ re-teams Dominik with his Jesse James lead star Brad Pitt as a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that takes place during a high stakes poker game under protection of the mob. Jesse James co-stars Casey Affleck and Sam Rockwell also feature. Other cast members include Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini, Javier Bardem, Mark Ruffalo, Vincent Curatola, Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Slaine, Richard Jenkins, and Sam Shepherd….A W E S O M E.
‘Killing Them Softly’ tracks Jackie Cogan’s (Brad Pitt) career in a gangland version of law and order. For Cogan is an enforcer; and when the Mob’s rules get broken, he gets hired to ply his trade – murder. Based on George V. Higgins 1974 national best-seller, Cogan is called in when a high-stake card game under the protection of the Mob is heisted. Expertly, with a ruthless businessman’s efficiency, a shrewd sense of other people’s weaknesses, and a style as cold as his stare, Cogan moves with reliable precision to restore the status quo as ill-conceived capers and double-dealing shenanigans erupt into high-voltage violence. The film is set for release September 21st. Expect to see a trailer soon.
