The Hollywood Reporter reveal that Juno Temple is joining the cast of Walt Disney Pictures live action re-telling of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale, ‘Maleficent.’ Temple would join Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville as the three pixie fairies in the classic fairy tale, who are tasked with taking care of Aurora (Elle Fanning) in the cottage in the woods. Temple will play Thistletwit who, like the other two pixies, Knotgrass and Flittle, is neglectful and superficial. ‘Maleficent’ is lead by Angelina Jolie in the title role of Disney’s notorious evil queen. Elle Fanning is on board as Aurora, and Sharlto Copley is Stefan, the half-human, half-fairy bastard son of the human king. Miranda Richardson will play Queen Ulla, a fairy queen who is Maleficent’s aunt – and dislikes her niece. Kenneth Cranham will play the human king who plots to conquer the fairy kingdom. Sam Riley takes the role of Diaval, a raven who changes into human form and is Maleficent’s right hand.

Set for release March 14th, 2014, the film explores the origins of the evil fairy Maleficent and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney’s animated classic ‘Sleeping Beauty.’ Academy Award-winning production designer Robert Stromberg (Avatar, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Oz The Great and Powerful) will direct with a script by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Alice in Wonderland). ‘Maleficent’ is shooting this summer in London. Juno Temple will next be seen in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and William Friedkin’s ‘Killer Joe.’
