Deadline has unveiled these first looks at Dwayne Johnson and Liam Hemsworth in Dito Montiel’s ‘Empire State.’ The heist drama is based on true events that took place in 1982, centering on two childhood friends (Liam Hemsworth and Michael Angarano) who plan to rob an armored car depository, with Dwayne Johnson playing the NYPD detective out to bust them. Chris Diamantopoulos plays a mob boss who thinks the two friends might have committed the caper even when the rest of the city thinks it was a major criminal conspiracy.

Headlined by Dwayne Johnson and Liam Hemsworth, the likes of Nikki Reed, Michael Angarano, Emma Roberts, Jerry Ferrara, Paul Ben-Victor, Shenae Grimes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Greg Vrotsos co-star in the film. Production for ‘Empire State’ is ongoing in New York and New Orleans on the period pic, which is being produced and financed by Emmett/Furla Films, and distributed by Lionsgate. While there’s no official release date set for ‘Empire State,’ expect to see it in cinemas Summer, 2013.
