Variety bring word that James Franco is set to join Jason Statham in the upcoming action-thriller ‘Homefront,’ which Gary Fleder (Kiss the Girls) will direct from a script by Sylvester Stallone. The story for ‘Homefront’ follows Phil Broker (Statham), an ex-DEA agent who moves his family to a quiet town hoping to escape his past. However, he finds the town to be overrun with violence, drug traffickers and an evil meth magnate named Gator (Franco). To save his endangered family, retribution is now the only thing Broker seeks.

Production is set to begin on ‘Homefront’ at the end of September in New Orleans. Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham will next be seen in ‘The Expendables 2,’ which arrives in cinemas August 17th. James Franco’s upcoming slate includes ‘The Iceman,’ ‘Lovelace,’ ‘Spring Breakers’ and ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful.’ Sylvester Stallone is producing ‘Homefront’ with Kevin King Templeton and Rene Besson, while Avi Lerner and Trevor Short will executive produce. Avi Lerner commented on the casting announcement as follows: “I cannot think of a better group to put this film on the big screen.  Sly’s script is fantastic, James and Jason are remarkable actors and Gary really knows how direct this type of film.” Expect further details and casting additions for ‘Homefront’ soon.
