Bolstering my already fervent excitement for this project, Vulture report that Michael Fassbender is in talks to star alongside Natalie Portman in the Lynne Ramsay-helmed revenge-driven Western, ‘Jane Got a Gun.’ Written by Brian Duffield, ‘Jane Got a Gun’ made the 2011 “Black List,” a compilation of the best unproduced scripts making the rounds of Hollywood, as voted on by hundreds of film executives. Ramsay was the filmmaker responsible for the much-acclaimed adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s novel, ’We Need to Talk About Kevin,’ unquestionably one of my favourite films of 2011.

‘Jane Got a Gun’ centers on Natalie Portman’s character, a woman whose outlaw husband returns home riddled with bullet wounds and barely alive, betrayed by criminal confederates that are hot on his heels. When her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job, she is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm. Michael Fassbender is said to be in negotiations for the role of the ex-lover.

Over the last eighteen months, Michael Fassbender has had a string of outstanding performances with his respected roles in Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus,’ Cary Fukunaga’s ’Jane Eyre,’ Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: First Class,’ David Cronenberg’s ‘A Dangerous Method,’ Steve McQueen’s ‘Shame,’ and Steven Soderberg’s ‘Haywire’ all being much acclaimed. Thankfully for us movie lovers, Fassbender’s upcoming slate is looking equally impressive. The actor is re-teaming with his ‘Shame’ and ‘Hunger’ director Steve McQueen on the adaptation of Solomon Northrup’s autobiography ‘Twelve Years A Slave,’  Ridley Scott on ‘The Counselor’ – which he’s currently in the midst of shooting, reprising his role as Magneto in Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ and finally he’s attached to star in and co-produce a movie adaptation of Ubisoft’s popular video game ‘Assassin’s Creed.’
