Debut US Trailer For ‘On The Road’ – Starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, Kristen Stewart & Viggo Mortensen
Yahoo! Movies has premiered this first US trailer for Walter Salles’ (The Motorcycle Diaries) ‘On The Road,’ the feature adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s acclaimed novel of the same name – widley regarded as one of the most important novels of the 20th century. The story follows Sal Paradise (Sam Riley), an aspiring New York writer, whom after the death of his father meets Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund), a young and dangerously seductive ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined not to get trapped in a narrow life, the two friends burn their bridges and hit the road: thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, others and themselves.
Alongside Sam Riley (Brighton Rock, Control) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), the cast also includes Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia, Spider-Man), Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga films), Amy Adams (Oscar-nominated for The Fighter), Tom Sturridge (The Boat That Rocked), Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Alice Braga (Blindness), Terrence Howard (Iron Man, Hustle and Flow), Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia, Spider-Man), Viggo Mortensen (A Dangerous Method, The Road), and Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire, Fargo). The film will be released in cinemas October 12th in the UK and December 21st in the US.
Walter Salles is reunited with co-writer José Rivera, following their collaboration on ‘The Motorcycle Diaries.’ ‘On The Road’ is produced by Marin Karmitz, Nathanaël Karmitz, Charles Gillibert and Rebecca Yeldham and co-financed by Film4 with Tessa Ross as one of the executive producers on the film. Since it was first published in 1957, Kerouac’s ‘On The Road’ novel has sold over 10 million copies, but has never previously been filmed.
