Jim Carrey kick ass Jim Carrey Joins ‘Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall As The Colonel

Confirming what has been long speculated, Deadline report that Jim Carrey has been set to play the role of The Colonel in ‘Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.’ The Colonel helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil. For the sequel, Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz are reprising their respective roles of Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl, while Christopher Mintz-Plasse will return as the villainous Red Mist. Carrey is joining fellow newcomers Donald Faison; who’s playing Doctor Gravity, Lindy Booth; who’s playing Night Bitch, and John Leguizamo; who’s playing Javier, a bodyguard who is assigned to protect Red Mist (though that name will soon become “The Motherf*cker” in the upcoming sequel). Morris Chestnut is said to be replacing Omari Hardwick as Sergeant Marcus Williams.

’Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall’ is directed by Jeff Wadlow, with ‘Kick-Ass’ helmer Matthew Vaughn co-producing and co-writing the screenplay. An adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr comic, the film starts filming this month in Toronto, aiming for a June 28th, 2013 release. Jim Carrey is said to be a big fan of Vaughn’s and his original ‘Kick-Ass’ film. He famously wore the Kick-Ass costume for a musical duet with Conan O’Brien on O’Brien’s “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television” Tour.
