‘Skyfall’ Behind-The-Scenes Videoblog, World Premiere Announced & Possible Runtime
Four pieces of ‘Skyfall’ related news today people! Firstly, Sony Pictures has released the following videoblog for the eagerly awaited 23rd James Bond adventure, taking us behind-the-scenes of the making of the film in Turkey. The videoblog provides us with some excellent footage from the films set and insight from the likes of Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig and Naomie Harris. Secondly, James Bond fan-site MI6 bring word that Daniel Craig is set to return as 007 for at least two more films after ’Skyfall.’ MI6 also say that the ‘Skyfall’ follow up is tentatively planned for 2014. Thirdly, Empire Cinemas has listed ‘Skyfall’ to have a running time of 145 mins. And lastly, 007.com has announced that the premiere for ’Skyfall’ will take place on October 23rd at The Royal Albert Hall, London. The ‘Skyfall’ premiere press release can be read below.
SKYFALL producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have announced that His Royal Highness Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall have graciously agreed to attend the World Premiere of the twenty third 007 adventure on Tuesday 23rd October at The Royal Albert Hall. Fittingly and at the request of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales the premiere will benefit the charities that support former and serving members of the three intelligence agencies (the Secret Intelligence Service, the Security Service and GCHQ). His Royal Highness is Royal Patron of the Intelligence Services. The premiere will be attended by the film’s leading actors Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Bérénice Marlohe, Albert Finney and Ben Whishaw, and the director Sam Mendes. The movie will be released in the UK and internationally from 26th October 2012 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Releasing. Wilson and Broccoli commented, “We are thrilled His Royal Highness Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall have agreed to attend the World Premiere of our latest James Bond film, and are pleased this event will help raise funds to support The Prince’s chosen charities.”
Directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road, Road to Perdition), ‘Skyfall’ sees Daniel Craig and Judi Dench continue their roles as James Bond and M. The cast also includes Naomie Harris as a field agent named Eve, Javier Bardem as Silva; the stories leering and sinisterly creepy lead villain, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw as Q; MI5′s resident gadgets man, Tonia Sotiropoulou, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner; the MI6 Chief of Staff, Ola Rapace, and Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory - who’s been described as “darkly complex.”
I’ve got incredibly high hopes for ‘Skyfall,’ I loved the trailers and I’m a huge fan of Daniel Craig’s more gritty and intense incarnation of James Bond. This latest 007 chapter was shot at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, Scotland, Whitehall in London, Shanghai and Istanbul. The screenplay is written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. ‘Skyfall’ will begin its worldwide roll-out in the UK and Ireland on October 26th, with a North American release following on November 9th. The Director of Photography is Roger Deakins, a nine-time Oscar nominee who previously shot the films ‘Jarhead’ and ‘Revolutionary Road’ for Mendes. Composer Thomas Newman will score the film. You can read the official synopsis and production notes for ‘Skyfall’ below.
In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. SKYFALL marks the return of Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007, as well as Judi Dench reprising her role as M. The film also stars franchise newcomers Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem and Naomie Harris. The film is directed by Sam Mendes from a screenplay written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and John Logan. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producers.
