tom hardy 2012 Tom Hardy In Talks To Play George Mallory In Everest

Deadline bring word that Tom Hardy is in early talks to star in Sony Pictures ’Everest.’ Hardy would be taking on the role of George Mallory, the famed mountaineer who tried three times in the early 1920s to become the first man to scale the world’s highest mountain. Adapted by Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air), ’Everest’ is based on Jeffrey Archer’s book ‘Paths Of Glory.’  Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) will direct the film after he completes the Tom Cruise-starring thriller ‘All You Need Is Kill.’ Hardy was recently seen on the big screen in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Lawless,’ while he’s currently playing the title character in the George Miller-directed ‘Mad Max: Fury Road.’ The synopsis for ‘Paths of Glory’ can be read below. Expect an update regarding Hardy’s involvement with ‘Everest’ shortly.

Some people have dreams that are so outrageous that if they were to achieve them, their place in history would be guaranteed. Francis Drake, Robert Scott, Percy Fawcett, Charles Lindbergh, Amy Johnson, Sir Edmund Hillary and Neil Armstrong are among such individuals. But what if one man had such a dream, and when he’d achieved it, there was no proof that he had fulfilled his ambition? Paths of Glory is the story of such a man. But not until you’ve turned the last page of this extraordinary novel, will you be able to decide if George Mallory should be added to this list of legends, because if he were, another name would have to be removed.
