Courtesy of Apple, this new trailer has arrived online for Baz Luhrmann’s much anticipated ‘The Great Gatsby’ adaptation. In related ‘The Great Gatsby’ news, the films official Facebook page has unveiled two more character posters for the film, centering on Carey Mulligan’s Daisy Buchanan and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jay Gatsby. These two posters closely follow the Isla Fisher/Myrtle Wilson character poster, Elizabeth Debicki/Jordan Baker character poster, Joel Edgerton/Tom Buchanan character poster, and Tobey Maguire/Nick Carraway character poster for the film. ‘The Great Gatsby’ will open early in the Summer 2013 season, hitting theaters on May 10th in the US and Canada, with an international rollout beginning the following week.

Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!) directs ‘The Great Gatsby’ from a screenplay co-written with frequent collaborator Craig Pearce, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel of the same name (one of my favourite books of all time). Lead by Leonardo DiCaprio as the title character, Jay Gatsby, ‘The Great Gatsby’ also stars Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Joel Edgerton and Carey Mulligan as Tom and Daisy Buchanan, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke as Myrtle and George Wilson, newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker, and Indian film legend Amitabh Bachchan as Meyer Wolfsheim.

‘The Great Gatsby’ follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles. The official synopsis for ‘The Great Gatsby’ can be read in full below the new trailer and Carey Mulligan poster.
