star wars episode 7 poster

This incredibly well made fan poster has arrived online for Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm’s hugely anticipated ‘Star Wars: Episode VII.’ Unless you’ve been living under a substantially sized rock this past fortnight, you would know that J.J. Abrams is set to direct the film, taking stewardship of one of Hollywood’s most iconic and lucrative film franchises.

Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy had reportedly been courting J.J. Abrams, one of the most successful directors and producers in Hollywood, for a while. He runs one of the industry’s top production companies, Bad Robot, and created or co-created television franchises like ‘Lost,’ ‘Fringe’ and ‘Alias.’ He has also directed the feature films ‘Mission: Impossible III,’ ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Super 8.’ Abrams is currently in the post-production phase of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness,’ his second Star Trek film since he rebooted the franchise in 2009. That film opens in cinemas on May 18th.

Late last year, the Walt Disney Company announced that they acquired Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, and that they are eyeing a 2015 release for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII.’ Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that after Episode VII, “our long term plan is to release a new Star Wars feature film every two to three years.” ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ begins shooting in 2014 for a 2015 release. The award-winning writer Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) is on board to pen the screenplay for the film. Expect more news soon.
