First Poster For ‘Fruitvale’ – Starring Michael B Jordan, Octavia Spencer & Melonie Diaz
Black Film has set loose this new poster for Ryan Coogler‘s much acclaimed Sundance winner ‘Fruitvale.’ The film chronicles the true story of 22-year-old Oscar Grant, a Bay Area resident who was detained on New Year’s Day 2009 by the Bay Area Rapid Transit police and shot in the back and killed. The event was captured by many cell phone cameras, with the ensuing trial and its verdict causing protests and riots against police brutality in Oakland.
‘Fruitvale’ took home the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival as well as the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film. Michael B Jordan, memorable in ‘The Wire,’ ‘Friday Night Lights’ and ‘Chronicle,’ plays the lead role of Oscar, while the likes of Octavia Spencer, Melonie Diaz, Ahna O’Reilly, Kevin Durand, and Chad Michael Murray co-star. ’Fruitvale’ is 26-year-old Ryan Coogler’s feature directorial debut, and Forest Whitaker is among the producers. Look out for the film later this year.
