idris elba gunman

According to Heat Vision, Idris Elba is in talks to join Sean Penn, Jasmine Trinca and Javier Bardem in the action thriller, ‘The Gunman’ (formerly titled ‘Prone Gunman’). Based on a Jean-Patrick Manchette novel and a script by Peter Travis (‘Dredd’ director), Pierre Morel is helming the feature. The story sees Penn as an international operative who is betrayed by the organization he works for, forcing him into a game of cat-and-mouse across Europe. Elba will play a mysterious operative named Dupont.

‘The Gunman’ is fully financed by Studio Canal and is looking to begin shooting in Barcelona and other European locales later this month. The producers hope to launch a franchise with the movie. Idris Elba won a Golden Globe for his performance in the hit BBC series ‘Luther’ and will next be seen starring alongside monsters and mechas in ‘Pacific Rim,’ the Guillermo del Toro tentpole that opens on July 12th. The actor is also reprising the role of Heimdall in ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and portrays Nelson Mandela in ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.’

The synopsis for the novel is as follows: Martin Terrier is a hired killer who wants out of the game—so he can settle down and marry his childhood sweetheart. After all, that’s why he took up this profession! But the Organization won’t let him go: they have other plans. Once again, the gunman must assume the prone shooting position. A tour de force, this violent tale shatters as many illusions about life and politics as bodies.
