Dwayne Johnson-2013

Heat Vision are reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures have tapped David Green to helm ‘Lore,’ an adaptation of an IDW book/graphic novel written by husband-and-wife team Ashley Wood and T.P. Louise that has Dwayne Johnson attached to star, pending scheduling. The sci-fi actioner tells of a secret society of shepherds (they herd monsters) that has long held the line on the encroachment of mythological creatures and when the succession line is broken in modern days, a woman finds herself shouldering the responsibility to stop the creatures’ return.

Warner Bros. Pictures picked up ‘Lore’ in April 2012 and by September was negotiating with ‘Men in Black’ director Barry Sonnenfeld. Sonnenfeld and the studio couldn’t agree on a budget so Sonnenfeld stepped off (but will receive an executive producer credit). David Green made his directorial debut making a low budget sci-fi movie for Disney titled ‘Echo.’ But the project, with a budget in the $5 million range, sat on the shelf as Disney pondered how to open it before eventually selling it to Relativity. Echo, which tells of teens who receive mysterious messages on their cell phones, has a January 10th, 2014 release date. The synopsis for ‘Lore’ graphic novel is as follows.

In times past, the world was full of mythical creatures, creatures long since banished and held at bay by the secret society of Shepherds. But when the generational line of Shepherds is broken, a reluctant hero finds her life threatened from every quarter. And the creatures are coming back…

Now, IDW presents this Premiere Edition of Lore, written by T.P. Louise and acclaimed artist Ashley Wood. Primarily a prose tale, Wood provides panel and spot illustrations that help bring this story to life. Lore Premiere Edition collects the entire six issues of this unique and mystical series, along with a gallery of artwork from Wood, all within a handsome hardcover.
