During a recent chat with Vulture, Hans Zimmer opened up about the possibility of him scoring Zack Snyder’s upcoming ‘Batman Vs Superman’ movie. Given that the composer scored Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and this summer’s ‘Man of Steel,’ Zimmer is faced with the decision of whether to revisit the Dark Knight or step aside and let someone else tackle the character. At this moment in time he said that he hasn’t made a final decision on whether to score ‘Batman vs. Superman’ just yet, “Honestly, I’m just sort of grappling with that right now. Quite seriously, the thought right now is that no, I don’t want to go and take what I did with Chris and just plonk it into another movie. There isn’t one good reason to do it, and there are so many good reasons not to do it.”

In general, Hans Zimmer reveals he’s a little burned out on the notion of sequels after working on so many movies in the Dark Knight and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises. “I didn’t really enjoy myself much on Pirates 4,” Zimmer admitted. “And I love that with The Dark Knight Rises, Chris said, ‘That’s it.'”

If he does end up scoring Superman’s long awaited matchup with Batman, Hans Zimmer said it’ll be solely because of the man in charge. “I really enjoyed working with Zack Snyder, so part of it would be a personal decision. At the same time, I wouldn’t want to put the ideas I used in the Chris Nolan Batman movies into a Superman movie. It just wouldn’t feel right.” In any case, he’s still got time to figure it out. “I’m a procrastinator, and right now, I don’t want to make a decision,” Zimmer said with a chuckle. “Zack hasn’t talked to me about it, so I don’t have to worry about it! I’ll worry about it when I have to worry about it, and then, if I’m lucky, I’ll have an idea. If I have an idea, I can do something with that, but if I don’t have an idea, then my good idea is going to be, ‘Get somebody else.'”

Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project – bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in ‘Man of Steel.’ The studio has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17th, 2015.

Zack Snyder re-imagined the origin of Clark Kent/Superman in the worldwide blockbuster ‘Man of Steel,’ which has earned more than $650 million worldwide to date, and climbing. The director will now create an original vision of Batman and his world for the film that brings the two DC Comics icons together. Ben Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent. The film will also reunite ‘Man of Steel’ stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Ben Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award-winning Best Picture ‘Argo,’ which he also directed and produced, earning acclaim and a BAFTA Award nomination for his performance in the film, as well as a number of directing honors. The new film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers. Production will begin in the first quarter of 2014.
