‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Tie-In Comic Teased
Roughly a month before the release of Marvel Studios’ ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ Marvel Comics will publish a brand new one shot titled ‘Captain America: Homecoming.’ Written by ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ scribe Fred Van Lente with art by Tom Grummet, the comic will tell the story of what Steve Rogers was doing between 2012′s ‘The Avengers’ and the upcoming ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’ In a recent chat with Newsarama, Van Lente showed off some of Grummet’s art and revealed the plot of the story, which sees him teaming up with Black Widow. ‘Captain America: Homecoming’ debuts this March.
Fred Van Lente said, “In this story, Steve Rogers takes Natasha to the Brooklyn neighborhood where he grew up. A lot has changed there since Steve was a kid in the 1930s, but the walk down memory lane is interrupted when a terrorist strike happens while they’re there. The question of whether it happens because they were there or not is a question readers will have to wait until they read the issue to find out.”
Directing the film is the team of Anthony and Joe Russo (Welcome to Collinwood) from a screenplay written by the ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Marvel’s ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ returns Chris Evans as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America, along with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. In addition, film icon Robert Redford has joined the all-star cast as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ is set for release on April 4th in the US and March 28th in the UK.
‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ sees Steve Rogers trying to embrace his role in the modern world as he teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, DC. Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ features a top-notch supporting cast that includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre as Georges Batroc. Rounding out the talented cast are Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones as Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp as Agent 13 and Maximiliano Hernández as Agent Jasper Sitwell.
“After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.”
