Stitch Kingdom has revealed this new collection of images from ’Maleficent,’ the live action re-telling of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Lead by Angelina Jolie as Disney’s notorious evil queen, ‘Maleficent’ co-stars Elle Fanning as Aurora, and Sharlto Copley as Stefan, the half-human, half-fairy bastard son of the human king. In the film, Miranda Richardson plays Queen Ulla, a fairy queen who is Maleficent’s aunt – and dislikes her niece. Kenneth Cranham plays the human king who plots to conquer the fairy kingdom. Sam Riley takes the role of Diaval, a raven who changes into human form and is Maleficent’s right hand. Juno Temple, Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville play the three pixie fairies in the tale.

Set for release on May 30th, the film explores the origins of the evil fairy Maleficent and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney’s animated classic ‘Sleeping Beauty.’ Academy Award-winning production designer Robert Stromberg (Avatar, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Oz The Great and Powerful) directs from a script by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Alice in Wonderland).

From Disney comes Maleficent—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.
