The Wrap bring word that Benicio Del Toro is in talks to join Joaquin Phoenix in writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Inherent Vice.’ Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute and finance the film, which Anderson has adapted from Thomas Pynchon’s soft-boiled crime novel.

Del Toro is in discussions to play an attorney who’s always trying to help the protagonist out of trouble, though he’s not an actual criminal lawyer. The character isn’t a major role but is expected to be a potential scene-stealer. The synopsis for the novel can be read below.

io9 has debuted this new poster for the upcoming sci-fi pic, ‘Europa Report.’ A unique blend of documentary, alternative history and science fiction thriller, the film follows a contemporary mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa, to investigate the possible existence of alien life within our solar system. Developed in close collaboration with NASA, JPL, SpaceX and other leaders in the scientific community, ‘Europa Report’ imagines the next step in manned space exploration and is based on recent scientific discoveries and theories.
‘Europa Report’ marks Sharlto Copley’s first return to science fiction since the 2009 blockbuster ‘District 9,’ as well as the English language debut of director Sebastián Cordero (Pescador, Cronicas), who once again worked with two longtime collaborators, Academy Award winning Production Designer Eugenio Caballero (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Impossible) and Director of Photography Enrique Chediak (127 Hours). The film was written by Philip Gelatt and produced by Wayfare Entertainment’s Ben Browning. Alongside Copley, the likes of Michael Nyqvist, Anamaria Marinca, Christian Camargo, Daniel Wu and Karolina Wydra also star. ‘Europa Report’ arrives on VOD on June 27th and hits cinemas on August 2nd.

The all-star comedy cast from Grown Ups returns (with some exciting new additions) for more summertime laughs. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises: the last day of school.
Highlighting Charlie Hunnam’s Jaeger pilot Raleigh Becket, Legendary Pictures has unleashed this new promotional image for Guillermo del Toro’s much anticipated, ‘Pacific Rim.’ Set for a July 12th 2D and 3D release, ’Pacific Rim’ is set in 2025, the 12th year of a war against giant malevolent alien creatures who reside in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. To combat its annihilation, the planet must band together and use highly advanced weapons technology to eradicate the growing threat. Undoubtedly one of my most anticipated movies of 2013, ‘Pacific Rim’ boasts a stellar cast of Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Robert Kazinsky, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Willem Dafoe, Ron Perlman and Max Martini. The official synopsis for ‘Pacific Rim’ can be read below.
From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi action adventure “Pacific Rim.” When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
