TriStar Productions have sent out a press release announcing that Meryl Streep is set to headline ‘Ricki and the Flash,’ an upcoming comedy drama from director Jonathan Demme and screenwriter Diablo Cody. Marc Platt and Mason Novick are producing. The synopsis given for the film is as follows: “Ricki and the Flash is the funny and touching story of a rock n’ roll-loving woman who chased her tattered dream at the price of her family, but gets a last chance to, perhaps, make things right. Streep, the most Oscar-nominated actor in history, is well known for her singing prowess on stage and screen (Mamma Mia, Into the Woods), but Ricki is a new gig even for the musically gifted star: a guitar-wielding, hard rockin’ mamma by night and grocery store checkout lady by day.”
After starring in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Inglorious Basterds’ and David Ayer’s November release ‘Fury,’ Brad Pitt looks set to return to the World War II setting in the form of an untitled romantic thriller which Steven Knight has scripted for Graham King‘s GK Films. While it’s not a done deal at this moment in time, Deadline hear that a “big director” will be announced shortly with an eye toward starting production in early 2015.
Steven Knight penned the script for ‘Eastern Promises,’ and more recently the British series ‘Peaky Blinders,’ the Helen Mirren-lead ‘The Hundred Foot Journey,’ and he wrote and directed ‘Locke’ with Tom Hardy. Brad Pitt most recently produced and co-starred in Best Picture Oscar winner ’12 Years A Slave’ and the zombie drama ‘World War Z,’ which is gearing up for a sequel.

John Crowley’s ‘Brooklyn’ Adaptation Begins Filming; Starring Saoirse Ronan, Domhnall Gleeson, Emory Cohen…
BBC Films send word that filming has begun in Ireland on ‘Brooklyn.’ Starring Saoirse Ronan, Domhnall Gleeson, Emory Cohen, Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters, the feature will shoot for three weeks in Enniscorthy, Wexford and Dublin, Ireland, before moving in mid-April to Montreal, Canada for a further four weeks. John Crowley, director of ‘Boy A’ and ‘Closed Circuit,’ directs this adaptation of Colm Toibin’s bestseller from a script by Nick Hornby, the novelist who wrote the screenplay for ‘An Education.’ The script was developed by BBC Films, and the co-producers are Parallel Films in Ireland and Item 7 in Canada.
Set in the early 1950s, the film tells the story of a young woman, Eilis (Ronan), who moves from a small town in Ireland to Brooklyn, where, unlike at home, she has the opportunity for work, for a future and for love, in the form of Italian-American Tony (Cohen). When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself absorbed into her old community, but now with eligible Jim (Gleeson) courting her. As she repeatedly postpones her return to America, Eilis finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma – a choice between two men and two countries.
From Warner Bros. Pictures comes this first international TV spot for ‘Godzilla.’ Described as an epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic ‘Godzilla,’ the film pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

This new take on the classic ‘Godzilla’ franchise is set to kick off the Summer movie-going season on May 16th. Gareth Edwards (Monsters) is directing the creature feature centered on the giant city-destroying and monster-fighting lizard. The filmmaker directs from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham.
During a recent chat with E! Online, Gal Gadot talked briefly about the workout routine she’s been following to prepare her for the role of Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. “I just keep active—everything that’s challenging me, everything that I feel like doing. It’s not like I’m only doing TRX or Pilates. I do sports. I do cardio, but I don’t like it as much. I’d rather do weights… I try to eat healthy, but sometimes though, I eat cheeseburgers. That’s good for the soul. I make sure to balance everything out. I drink tons of water.”
