Do you remember when you were first told that Loki would be expanded in ‘The Avengers’?
Tom Hiddleston: Yeah. It was towards the end of the production of ‘Thor.’ I remember Joss Whedon was coming into Marvel Studios a lot because he was writing ‘The Avengers’ screenplay, and he asked me to go out for tea. We were sitting in a coffee shop in Santa Monica and he said, “So, here’s the thing, Tom. There’s a lot of talk about multiple villains in the film and I don’t want any of that. I want Loki to be the bad guy.” After I picked my jaw off the floor (laughs), I did back flips in the tea room and then we just talked for hours about who Loki was and what his motivations were and the kind of spiritual damage that was at the heart of the character as well as the delight he takes in being a mischievous trickster and an agent of chaos.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ To Feature More Than An Hour’s Worth Of IMAX Footage
Apr 23rd
Following the welcomed news that the promotional campaign for Christopher Nolan’s hugely anticipated conclusion to his Batman trilogy, ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ will commence again with the third theatrical trailer attached to Marvel’s ‘The Avengers.’ The Wall Street Journal report that ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ will contain the most IMAX footage ever for a Hollywood feature, more than one hour’s worth. The films predecessor, ‘The Dark Knight,’ had about 40 minutes of IMAX footage. Alongside ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ IMAX’s summer line-up also includes ‘The Avengers,’ ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ ‘Men in Black 3,’ ‘Dark Shadows,’ and Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus.’ Christopher Nolan’s film was the only one shot using IMAX cameras, the others were converted using IMAX’s technology.
The plot for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is being kept securely under wraps. I think it’s safe to say that, judging by the first theatrical trailer and the previous two films, I’d expect something E P I C. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake, Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate. Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis, Josh Stewart, Christopher Judge, Adam Rodriguez and Rob Brown co-star. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is released in cinemas July 20th. Christopher Nolan directs the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan.

Paramount Pictures Officially Announce Darren Aronofsky’s Russell Crowe Starring ‘Noah’
Apr 23rd
Paramount Pictures has today officially announced the casting of Russell Crowe, the March 28th, 2014 release date, and provided us with a brief synopsis for Darren Aronofsky’s epically-scaled retelling of the biblical story ‘Noah.’ The synopsis for Aronofsky’s take on the Bible tale is as follows: “NOAH is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood.”
‘Noah’ is Aronofsky’s follow up effort to the Oscar-nominated and hugely profitable ‘Black Swan,’ which grossed $315 million worldwide on a $12 million budget. Talking about the project, Aronofsky had the following to say in the past: “Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family’s journey. The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith. It’s my hope that I can present a window into Noah’s passion and perseverance for the silver screen.”
I’ve got extremely high hopes for this film, this project has been one Aronofsky’s been developing since his teens. The premise and sheer ambition of ‘Noah’ has me stoked. Aronofsky is the man behind some of my favourite films of the last twelve years in ‘The Wrestler,’ ‘The Fountain,’ ‘Requiem for a Dream,’ ‘Pi’ and ‘Black Swan’ – fingers crossed ‘Noah’ adds to that list. Expect further casting details soon, the likes of Liam Neeson and Jennifer Connolly have been linked to the film. John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator) is set to rewrite the script by Aronofsky and Ari Handel, while Aronofsky and Scott Franklin will produce the film.
