Fourth Bourne Movie ‘The Bourne Legacy’ Will NOT Feature Jason Bourne/Matt Damon
Oct 10th
Tony Gilroy, the writer and director for the fourth instalment in the Bourne franchise ‘The Bourne Legacy’ has told Hollywood Elsewhere that there will be no Jason Bourne, and therefore no Matt Damon in his new Bourne film. This is a bit of a bummer for me, with my somewhat limited intellect it’s hard to think of a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne (I tried thinking of a Batman movie without Batman, but my brain went into sensory overload).
I still have some hope in Gilroy though, he wrote the previous three Bourne movies along with The Devil’s Advocate and Michael Clayton (which he also directed) – each thoroughly thumbs up worthy movies! He’s got his work cut out for him trying to extend a franchise without its star though. Also to point out while the film shares a title with the book ‘The Bourne Legacy’ by Eric Van Lustbader – the first book in the series after original writer Robert Ludlum’s death – Gilroy says it’s a stand alone script that does not follow the same plot. The film will feature a whole new hero in the same universe. Check out some quotes from the article below.
It’s a completely original screenplay….This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one’s replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter…this is a stand-alone project.
The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal…Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I’m building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy…the world we’re making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne’s return [down the road].
Mad Max: Fury Road Filming Delayed Until 2012 – Set To Star Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron
Oct 10th
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but The Australian have reported that pre-production on George Miller’s upcoming movie Mad Max: Fury Road has been delayed for a second time and will not begin filming until 2012. The film was meant to shoot with stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in August, until unseasonable rains had made the Broken Hill area too fertile, this lead to the start date being revised to February of next year.
This is disastrous news for crew members, filming is now expected to start in February 2012, on location in the Broken Hill area of Australia, which means we won’t see the film until 2013 – if it actually still goes ahead! As disheartening as this report is for the audience I feel so much worse for the workers, it’s a real shame for the Australian film industry: “The delay has left many major film crew members without work amid fears the high Australian dollar could ultimately kill the film as its budget grows.”
I’ve been keeping a keen eye on this film, fingers crossed something comes into fruition! Mad Max: Fury Road stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz, Teresa Palmer, Adelaide Clemens, Riley Keough. The film is directed by George Miller.
Eliza Dushku Interview For The DVD/Blu-Ray Release Of Dollhouse Season 2
Oct 9th
I recently had a bit of a chinwag with the lovely Eliza Dushku for the DVD/Blu-ray release of Dollhouse Season 2, the thrilling finale of the sexy sci-fi drama, Dollhouse. The series reunites Dushku with fellow Buffy alumna Joss Whedon – the man behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and the upcoming ‘The Avengers‘ movie. Dollhouse Season 2 and the Complete Collection are available to own on Blu-ray & DVD from 11 October 2010 courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
Can you tell us about your dress? It is very interesting.
Eliza Dushku: You know, I wanted to get dressed up for the international press! Sort of an appreciation for the other places in the world. For the U.S. press I do T-shirt and jeans. But it is Phillip Lim so I gave a little bit of flavor.
It looks like you are really good at — it’s interesting because of the show as well yourself, you could have been in and out of your character. There is almost the actress and the girl and it is almost impossible to recognize you if you are not wearing the makeup and the hair and everything; right?
Eliza Dushku: Uh-huh.
Do you do that on purpose?
Eliza Dushku: You know, I’ve sort of always — I’ve just sort of always been a mimic and deep down there’s this tomboy in me. There’s the young woman that sort of started discovering hair and makeup and dresses and how to be girlie and feminine and that’s fun. Then I sort of experienced the celebrity element and the red carpet and the glamour and I know how to play that role. Once I sort of pick something up and absorb a few of the details I usually sort of chameleon in and out of different people, yeah.
The character was perfect for you?
Eliza Dushku: Yeah, sort of came from a four-hour lunch with me. Joss went, “You’re a lot of people.” And I think he also noticed that more often than not I was sort of being cast as the leather pants tough girl, you know, really sort of my guard was up and that was where I came from in a way. Coming out of high school I did “Buffy” right away and I was in that tough fiercely protective, I’ll kick anyone’s butt that tries to scrutinize me or tell me who to be or put me in a box. And as I have recovered from high school every year, I’m a little more open about playing different characters and playing vulnerable characters and playing characters that, you know, can be beat down as well as doing the beating.
And which of these characters are you playing on the show are you more comfortable with? And which one are you uncomfortable with?
Eliza Dushku: It depends. It definitely depends. I think absolutely there is a level of trust with Joss and the cast and the crew even that we’ve had with on the show both seasons because I feel comfortable going those places and going to some of the more vulnerable, raw places and when I don’t feel entirely comfortable, it’s — you’re more likely to get the bold, the strong, the resistant person. So when I’m in my comfort zone I can be quite lovely.
So it seems like you have a lot of action scenes. How do you prepare?
Eliza Dushku: Gusto, baby. I just step up to the line and I hate — I remember in the “Buffy” days I used to watch the fight scenes on TV after we shot them and every time my stunt double was in I thought everyone could notice that it was not me as much as I could. So I wanted to do as much as I could so I didn’t see that wig flipping around. (Laughter.) I wanted to climb in. And also it is so much fun, you know, it’s great stress reliever to just beat the bag out of someone on a Monday morning. And it’s just — it’s physical. You get your endorphins going. I’m a competitive kid. I did grow up with brothers, and so it beats sitting behind a desk or playing sort of the same character every day. It switches it up. How do I prepare? I just show up and I take direction.
A lot of shows now especially ones involving Joss Whedon have two lives: There is the show and there is the DVD. Did you do stuff within the production of “Dollhouse” that was specifically geared towards DVD or was it all after the fact?
Eliza Dushku: I don’t really know because I feel like we, of course, make the show for the viewers and the fans first and foremost. And I think — I don’t think we’re favoring the DVD with the stuff but I think with all Joss’s shows what is so fascinating about them and what sort of feeds the fan craze is that there are nuances in every show. And there are — you can watch the show three times and pick something up each time you watch it from the characters or from the sets or from, you know, little things that, yes, Joss probably does to get into people or get people thinking and coming, breaking off into big, giant theories about world corruption.

Three New Character Posters For Morning Glory – Starring Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams & Diane Keaton
Oct 8th
Paramount Pictures have liberated these three sharp character posters for their new rom-com Morning Glory. To be honest I’m not sure what to think of this film, on one hand it’s being produced by J.J. Abrams and the cast is pretty decent – Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams, Patrick Wilson, Jeff Goldblum and Diane Keaton. Yet on the other hand the trailer was pretty meh worthy, and worse of all during the trailer the line ‘from the screenwriter of The Devil Wears Prada’ flashed up – this switched on a gigantic red light in my mind and engaged my anti chick flick mechanism!
When hard–working TV producer Becky Fuller (McAdams) is fired from a local news program, her career begins to look as bleak as her hapless love life. Stumbling into a job at “Daybreak” (the last–place national morning news show), Becky decides to revitalize the show by bringing on legendary TV anchor Mike Pomeroy (Ford). Unfortunately, Pomeroy refuses to cover morning show staples like celebrity gossip, weather, fashion and crafts – let alone work with his new co–host, Colleen Peck (Keaton), a former beauty queen and longtime morning show personality who is more than happy covering morning “news.” As Mike and Colleen clash, first behind the scenes and then on the air, Becky’s blossoming love affair with fellow producer, Adam Bennett (Wilson) begins to unravel – and soon Becky is struggling to save her relationship, her reputation, her job and ultimately, the show itself.
New Trailer For Peter Weir’s The Way Back – Starring Colin Farrell, Ed Harris & Jim Sturgess
Oct 8th
The first trailer for Peter Weir’s wonderful looking ‘The Way Back’ has finally made it’s way online. I’ve been sold on this film ever since it was announced, from the trailer it looks like after five Oscar nominations Peter Weir (Master And Commander, The Truman Show, Witness) may be in the running again to bring home that faceless gold man! The cast he has assembled is stellar in Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Mark Strong and Saoirse Ronan. The Way Back is set for release December 26th.
The Way Back is the fact-based story of the escape of soldiers from a Siberian gulag in 1940. It is based on several sources, most notably the Slavomir Rawicz book The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom. The book is Rawicz’s account of being captured by the Red Army in 1939 and his journey to freedom with other inmates. The group crossed the Siberian arctic, the Gobi desert and the Himalayas, finally settling in Tibet and India.
