First reported back in June, The Wrap has confirmed that Tom Hardy will lead ‘The Outsider,’ which marks the English-language debut of Japanese director Takashi Miike. Before he plays Elton John in ‘Rocketman,’ Hardy will play an American former G.I. in post-World War II Japan who joins a Yakuza crime family. The project, originally set up at Warner Bros Pictures, will be financed by Worldview Entertainment to shoot in Japan in early 2014.
Takashi Miike has helmed more than 60 Japanese-language films including ‘Ichi the Killer,’ ’13 Assassins’ (one of my favorite films) and ‘Audition.’ Tom Hardy next stars in ‘Locke’ and the franchise reboot ‘Mad Max: Fury Road.’ He also stars in the Dennis Lehane-scripted and Michael R. Roskam-directed ‘Animal Rescue’ opposite Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts and James Gandolfini, and in the Daniel Espinosa-directed ‘Child 44.’
With the new trailer for ‘The LEGO Movie’ set to arrive online on Thursday, Warner Bros. Pictures has sent over this video introducing Metal Beard, who is voiced by Nick Offerman. This teaser closely follows the videos centering on Chris Pratt’s Emmett, Elizabeth Banks’ Wyldstyle and Will Ferrell’s President Business. Scheduled for a February 7th, 2014 release in the US and a February 14th, 2014 bow in the UK, ’The LEGO Movie’ is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) from their own original screenplay. The film also features the voices of Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Alison Brie, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Cobie Smulders, and Morgan Freeman.
Chris Pratt stars as Emmet. Oscar winner Morgan Freeman and Elizabeth Banks will star as two of Emmet’s fellow travelers: Vitruvius, an old mystic; and tough-as-nails Lucy, who mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest. She also calls upon the mysterious Batman, a LEGO minifigure voiced by Will Arnett, with whom she shares a history. Will Ferrell will play Emmet’s primary adversary, President Business; Liam Neeson is the president’s powerful henchman, Bad Cop; Nick Offerman is a craggy, swaggering pirate obsessed with revenge on President Business; and Brie is a member of Emmet’s team with a powerful secret.

For those of you not up on the written languages of Middle-Earth, the message translates to: “WATCH FOR THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 TRAILER IN FRONT OF THE HOBBIT IN 3D.” ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,’ the second part of Peter Jackson’s latest Middle-Earth trilogy, arrives in cinemas on December 13th. If I was a betting man, I’d wager that the trailer will arrive online on or around December 10th.
New Behind-The-Scenes Featurette For ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ – Starring Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner & Jared Leto
Focus Features has revealed this first behind-the-scenes featurette for ‘Dallas Buyers Club.’ In this fact-based drama, Matthew McConaughey portrays real-life Texas electrician Ron Woodroof, an ordinary man who found himself in a life-or-death battle with the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies.
In 1985, Ron was blindsided with an HIV diagnosis and given 30 days to live. With medications still restricted in the US and the country still divided over how to combat the virus, Ron procured non-toxic alternative treatments from all over the world through both legal and illegal means. To avoid government sanctions against selling non-approved medicines and supplements, Ron established a “buyers club” for fellow HIV-positive people, giving them access to his supplies. ’Dallas Buyers Club’ also stars Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto, Steve Zahn, Dallas Roberts, Griffin Dunne, Denis O’Hare, and Bradford Cox. The Jean-Marc Vallée directed film is set for November 1st in the US and February 7th in the UK.
