To put it out there I’m much more of a beard man myself, moustaches aren’t really my thing, they do intrigue me though, they come in every shape and size, they are synonymous with a wide range of people, your sophisticated gentleman, 1980’s porn star, a hill billy and cowboys. It has been said they give men a special source of righteous/evil power depending on the moustachee.

3 New Clash Of The Titans Posters

clash%20of%20the%20titans%20poster%201 3 New Clash Of The Titans Posters

My hopes for this continue to rise, I really liked the first trailer (apart from the sh*tty tagline ‘Titans Will Clash’) and the posters released on Yahoo today measure extremely high on the badassness scale! This is shaping up to be the big blockbuster film I’m looking forward tothe  most next year – along with Inception. I’m generally not a fan of remakes but for me the original hasn’t dated that well so I’m not mad at all with this one.

In the film, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Neeson) and unleash hell on Earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

Invictus – New Clips

invictus40 Invictus New Clips

Below are some new clips from Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film – Invictus, one of the favorite’s for this years Best Picture at the Oscar’s (Clint Eastwood always seems to be a favorite of the Academy along with George Clooney). Invictus stars Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar the South African Rugby team captain. At the National Board Of Review Clint Eastwood was awarded the best director for Invictus while Morgan Freeman and George Clooney split the best actor award.

Based on the book by John Carlin Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed a Nation, Invictus is the story of South Africa’s bid to host the Rugby World Cup in 1995, and then the home team’s campaign in the competition to win the trophy (if you know your stuff they beat New Zealand 15-12 in the final). The film is set just a few short years after the end of apartheid, Mandela’s release from prison and election as President, at the time and still to an extent now the country was deeply and bitterly divided, which threatened at times to scupper the campaign. The trailer should be released within the next two weeks

Invictus is in UK cinemas February 5, 2010, and in the US December 11th just in time for Oscar season.

Jennifer Hudson set to play Winnie Mandela

jennifer hudson askmen Jennifer Hudson set to play Winnie Mandela

Jennifer Hudson winner of a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2006’s Dreamgirls, will take the lead role in a new biopic of the former South African first lady Winnie Mandela, the film will shoot from May 30, 2010. Nelson Mandela himself  is being portrayed by  Morgan Freeman in the upcoming Clint Eastwood-directed Invictus, which centres on Nelson’s attempts to unite his country behind the South African team in the 1995 rugby World Cup.

Winnie will be directed by Darrell J. Roodt. Andre Pieterse, Roodt and Paul L. Johnson wrote a script based on the Anne Marie du Preez Bezdrob biography “Winnie Mandela:A Life.” The filmmakers have said they will ‘tell the whole story, good and bad’. “I was compelled and moved when I read the script,” Hudson said. “Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.” I’d really like to see how this turns out, Winnie Mandela is an interesting and complex character, Jennifer Hudson was great in Dreamgirls but it wasn’t like she was out of her comfort zone, we’ll have to wait and see, I’ve got faith!

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, 72, remains a popular figure in South African politics despite her 1991 conviction for involvement in the kidnapping, assault and death of a 14-year-old alleged informer, Stompie Moeketsi. She and Nelson Mandela had been married for only a year before he was forced into hiding and then imprisoned in 1962 – he would only be freed in 1990. While he was in gaol, she became an increasingly powerful figure in the African National Congress and went on to run the ANC Women’s League. She was deputy minister of arts, culture, science and technology in the first post-apartheid government for 11 months, until allegations of corruption led to her dismissal.

Stan Lee Wired Interview

2t9w4341 copy1 660x481 Stan Lee Wired Interview

Wired recently caught up with the legend that is Stan Lee – co-creator of Spider-Man, Iron Man, X Men, Thor and Hulk.  At the Scream 2009 awards show Stan Lee was awarded the Comic-Con Icon Award dedicated to honouring the best in fantasy, science fiction, comics, and horror. Lee arrived on stage on a giant spider an entrance worthy of one of his superheroes – Legend!

You’ve had a number of cameos in Marvel’s recent run of films. Did you enjoy doing those?

Oh yeah. I’m a real ham. I love doing those cameos. And I also have a cameo in the latest Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 video game. I’m in that as Stan Lee. And I’m also the mayor of the town in the  Super Hero Squad show. I love doing those things. I’m thinking of putting a notice in Variety saying, “Stan Lee available for cameos.”

Have you been called yet for Iron Man 2?

I’ve done it already! I’ve already been told that I’ll be in the next Spider-Man movie. You know what I’m really trying for, I think it would be a kick. I don’t know why DC hasn’t asked me to do one. I’m waiting. Maybe they’ll read this interview and get the idea.

Out of all the super powers you could possibly have, which one would you want?

Believe it or not, good luck. Because if you’re lucky then everything goes right for you. Right? if somebody shoots at you, they’ll miss. Somebody takes a swing at you, they’ll trip and fall before the blow lands. If you buy a lottery ticket, you’re sure to win. I think luck is really the most important thing you could have.
