“Special Ops” Featurette For Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Elysium’ – Starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster & Sharlto Copley
This latest behind-the-scenes featurette has arrived online for Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi thriller ‘Elysium.’ As a huge fan of Blomkamp’s ‘District 9’ – that film had style and substance in abundance – ‘Elysium’ is without a doubt one of my most anticipated of 2013. Further adding to my excitement is the top-notch cast the filmmaker assembled for the film in Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Wagner Moura, Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner, Alice Braga, and Diego Luna. Look out for ‘Elysium’ on August 9th in the US and September 20th in the UK.
In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
Yahoo! Movies has revealed this first theatrical trailer for the upcoming Nelson Mandela biopic, ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.’ Based on the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s autobiography of the same name, ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ is directed by Justin Chadwick (The First Grader, The Other Boleyn Girl) and produced by Anant Singh. Alongside Idris Elba as Nelson Mandela, Naomie Harris plays his wife, Winnie. The likes of Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa, Zolani Mkiva, Jamie Bartlett, Lindiwe Matshikiza, Deon Lotz and Terry Pheto co-star.
Anant Singh began communicating with Nelson Mandela about making a film based on his life while he was still in prison and acquired the film rights to Mandela’s book at the time of its publication in 1996 and development on the film began immediately when Academy Award Nominee, writer William Nicholson (Les Miserables, Gladiator, Shadowlands) signed on. The film tells the story of the legendary South African freedom fighter, spanning over seventy years, including his struggle against apartheid, 27 years in jail and his rise to prominence as a political leader and head-of-state. ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ arrives in cinemas on November 29th in the US and January 3rd in the UK.
CBS Films has premiered, via Yahoo! Movies, this first full-length trailer for the Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro and Kevin Kline-starring comedy, ‘Last Vegas.’ Directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure) from Dan Fogelman’s (Crazy Stupid Love) script, the four acting legends are joined in ‘Last Vegas’ by Romany Malco, Mary Steenburgen, Jerry Ferrara and Ric Reitz. The film arrives in cinemas on November 1st.
Billy (Academy Award®-winner Michael Douglas), Paddy (Academy Award®-winner Robert De Niro), Archie (Academy Award®-winner Morgan Freeman) and Sam (Academy Award®-winner Kevin Kline) have been best friends since childhood. So when Billy, the group’s sworn bachelor, finally proposes to his thirty-something (of course) girlfriend, the four head to Las Vegas with a plan to stop acting their age and relive their glory days. However, upon arriving, the four quickly realize that the decades have transformed Sin City and tested their friendship in ways they never imagined. The Rat Pack may have once played the Sands and Cirque du Soleil may now rule the Strip, but it’s these four who are taking over Vegas.
