Relativity Media has set loose over 10 minutes of behind-the-scenes “B-roll” footage from Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut, ‘Don Jon.’ Besides directional duties on the film, Gordon-Levitt wrote the script and stars as a modern day Don Juan who sets out to become a less selfish person after meeting a recently widowed older woman (Julianne Moore). Scarlett Johansson co-stars in the dark comedy alongside Tony Danza, Glenne Headly, Brie Larson and Rob Brown. Set for a September 27th release in the US and a November 15th bow in the UK, the synopsis for ‘Don Jon’ can be read below.
Jon Martello (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a strong, handsome, good old-fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to “pull” a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn’t compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) is a bright, beautiful, good old-fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she’s determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset. Wrestling with good old-fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy in this unexpected comedy written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
While we’re still none the wiser to when we’ll be seeing this film in The Weinstein Company territories (US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa), this new French trailer has arrived online for ‘Snowpiercer,’ the highly anticipated post-apocalyptic drama by writer/director Bong Joon-ho (The Host, Mother) and producer Chan wook-Park (Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance).
