First ‘Carnage’ Clip – Starring Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet & Christoph Waltz
Sep 30th
The New York Times has uncovered this first clip from Roman Polanski’s impending dramatic black comedy ‘Carnage.’ The film – which runs at 79 minutes since it plays out in real time - follows two sets of parents who meet after their children are involved in a fight, only for things to quickly become heated. The two sets of parents in question are portrayed by Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz. ’Carnage’ is set for release December 16th. The film is based on Yasmina Reza‘s Tony-winning play ’God of Carnage.’
A showdown between two kids: about eleven, in a local playground. Swollen lips, broken teeth… Now the parents of the “victim” have invited the parents of the “bully” to their apartment to sort if out. Cordial banter gradually develops a razor-sharp edge as all four parents reveal their laughable contradictions and grotesque prejudices. None of them will escape the ensuing carnage.
Second Clip From ‘The Thing’ – Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead & Joel Edgerton
Sep 30th
Universal Pictures has unleashed this tense clip from Matthis van Heijningen Jr’s ‘The Thing,’ the upcoming prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 classic film of the same name. The original is a personal favourite of mine, not just because it features Kurt Russell sporting one of the greatest beards of all-time, but also, maybe more importantly, due to it being a thrilling experience from start to finish. ‘The Thing’ stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Eric Christian Olsen. The film opens in cinemas October 14th in the US, and December 2nd in the UK. Look out for interviews with the cast next week.
Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman.
In the thriller The Thing, paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet. Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago, but it is about to wake up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.

Sep 29th
Yahoo! Movies has unveiled this first theatrical trailer for Baltasar Kormákur’s upcoming crime thriller ‘Contraband’ – the American remake of the Icelandic film ‘Reykjavik-Rotterdam.’ ‘Contraband’ hits cinemas January 13th 2012 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Giovanni Ribisi, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Haas, and Ben Foster.
Mark Wahlberg leads the cast of ‘Contraband’, a fast-paced thriller about a man trying to stay out of a world he worked so hard to leave behind and the family he’ll do anything to protect. Chris Farraday (Wahlberg) long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi), Chris is forced back into doing what he does best — running contraband — to settle Andy’s debt.
Chris is a legendary smuggler and quickly assembles a crew with the help of his best friend, Sebastian (Ben Foster), for one final run to Panama and back, hoping to return with millions in counterfeit bills. Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops and hit men before his wife, Kate (Kate Beckinsale), and sons become their target.
