New Images From Kevin Macdonald’s ‘The Eagle’ – Starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell & Mark Strong
Jan 25th
Focus Features have provided the interwebs with a bunch of images from Kevin Macdonald’s (The Last King of Scotland) upcoming Roman epic ‘The Eagle’. The movie is based off the 1954 novel ‘The Eagle of the Ninth’ written by Rosemary Sutcliff. I’m a complete sucker for sword and sandals movies, any film that features an abundance of cowls, shields, blood, excessive mud, vengence, dramatic music, swords, spears and fire lances is certain to tickle my fancy! Look out for The Eagle in cinemas Febuary 11th 2011.
In 140 AD, two men – master and slave – venture beyond the edge of the known world on a dangerous and obsessive quest that will push them beyond the boundaries of loyalty and betrayal, friendship and hatred, deceit and heroism…The Roman epic adventure THE EAGLE stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell and is directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Macdonald. 20 years earlier, Rome’s 5,000-strong Ninth Legion, under the command of Flavius Aquila, marched north carrying their treasured golden Eagle emblem. They never returned; Legion and Eagle simply vanished into the mists. Hearing a rumor that the Eagle has been seen in a tribal temple in the far north, Flavius’ son Marcus (Tatum), determined to restore the tarnished reputation of his father, is galvanized into action. Accompanied only by his slave Esca (Bell), Marcus sets out into the vast and dangerous highlands of Scotland – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory, and retrieve the hallowed Eagle. Along the way Marcus realizes that the mystery of his father’s disappearance may well be linked to the secret of his own slave’s identity and loyalty – a secret all the more pressing when the two come face-to-face with the warriors of the fearsome Seal Prince (Tahar Rahim).
Johnny Depp & Penelope Cruz Talk ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’
Jan 24th

Well shiver me timbers and blow me down, in the latest issue of Empire Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz shed some light on what we can expect from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.’ Talking about the plot Depp revealed:
“Pirates 2 and 3 became quite…sub-plotty. The mathematics of it. All of these people went to see them two or three times just to figure out what was happening. This one is a little closer in tone to the first: more character driven, more subject driven. It has a freshness. Less mathematics.”
Penelope Cruz talked about what we can expect from her character Angelica:
“She’s the daughter of the most dangerous pirate of all time, Blackbeard. She has learned a lot from her father. She wants to be good, she’s a fighter for the troops on board the ship and wants to change her father, but she also has the mind of a pirate. So she can be tricky, the perfect liar. [She and Jack] were lovers in the past and things have not been resolved. Angelica is very angry and he is the same; they hurt each other but they get back together for this mission; it’s an interesting game they have going on.”
New Images Of Michael Fassbender As Magneto & James McAvoy As Professor X In ‘X-Men: First Class’
Jan 20th
20th Century Fox are REALLY stepping up the marketing for X-Men: First Class. Just minutes after putting up the teaser poster for the film, it came to my attention that Slashfilm have released these two new images from the Marvel movie featuring Michael Fassbender as Magneto and James McAvoy as the young Professor X. Along with the images they also talked to director Matthew Vaughn about a number of topics, including the banner image that was released yesterday:
“I freaked out on them yesterday. I don’t know where the hell that came from. I don’t think it’s a Fox image. It’s not a pre-approved image. When I found out, I said, what the fuck is this shit, and Fox is running around trying to figure out what happened as well. I agree. It’s like a bad photoshop, which maybe it was by someone. It didn’t reflect the movie. I was shocked when I saw it. I was like ‘Jesus Christ’…
The film is set for release June 3rd 2011. The X-Men prequel stars Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as the young Professor X, January jones as Emma Frost, Kevin Bacon as Sebastien Shaw, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Lucas Till as Havok, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Zoe Kravitz as Angel and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.
Debut Teaser Poster For Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ – Starring Michael Fassbender & James McAvoy
Jan 20th
20th Century Fox are really stepping up the marketing for X-Men: First Class this week. In addition to the three images that were released yesterday, and the crappy looking banner the day before, Ain’t It Cool have today released this great teaser poster for the Matthew Vaughn Marvel movie.
”X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.”
Three New Images From Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ – Starring Michael Fassbender & James McAvoy
Jan 20th
To accompany a recent set visit The LA Times have got their mitts on three new images from Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming Marvel movie X-Men: First Class. In the article the director also sheds some light on the challenges in making the film.
“We’re filming at the moment, we’ve a lot to get done,” said a weary Vaughn, whose credits include memorable but modest-grossing indie fare like “Kick-Ass” and “Layer Cake.” “I’ve never worked under such time pressure. The good thing about the independent world is I never even knew if I was going to get distribution. I’m used to finishing a film and then crossing your fingers that someone is going to like it. This is totally doing it the other way around. We’ve definitely got a release date and we’ve got to make it.”
The film is set for release June 3rd 2011 so expect to see more images and footage VERY soon (more than likely early Febuary in time for the Superbowl).
