First Look At Keira Knightley, Aaron Johnson & Jude Law In Joe Wright’s ‘Anna Karenina’
Jan 31st
These scans from the latest issue of Empire Magazine have provided us with our first look at Joe Wright’s (Atonement, Hanna) epic romance ‘Anna Karenina,’ an adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel of the same name. Keira Knightley, Academy Award-nominated for Wright’s ‘Pride & Prejudice,’ will star as Anna Karenina in her third collaboration with the director. Knightley will be starring opposite two-time Academy Award nominee Jude Law, as Anna’s husband Aleksei Karenin; and Aaron Johnson (Nowhere Boy), as Count Vronsky. Rounding out the cast will be Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), Matthew Macfadyen (Pride & Prejudice), Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Alicia Vikander (The Seventh Son), two-time Academy Award nominee Emily Watson, Olivia Williams (Hanna), and Ruth Wilson (Luther). ’Anna Larenina’ is scheduled for release September 7th. “The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna (Ms. Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.”
Oliver Stone’s ‘Savages’ Moved Forward To July 6th – Starring Benicio Del Toro, Blake Lively & John Travolta
Jan 31st
Universal Pictures has moved the release date of Oliver Stone’s upcoming crime thiller ‘Savages’ from September 28th into the heart of the summer on July 6th – pegging against ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’ With this date change I’d expect a trailer shortly. The film is based on Don Winslow’s best-selling crime novel, ‘Savages: A Novel,’ which was named one of The New York Times’ Top 10 Books of 2010. ‘Savages’ features an all-star ensemble cast of Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch and Demian Bichir.
Laguna Beach entrepreneurs Ben (Aaron Johnson), a peaceful and charitable Buddhist, and his closest friend Chon (Tylor Kitsch), a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary, run a lucrative, homegrown industry—raising some of the best marijuana ever developed. They also share a one-of-a-kind love with the extraordinary beauty Ophelia (Blake Lively). Life is idyllic in their Southern California town…until the Mexican Baja Cartel decides to move in and demands that the trio partners with them.
When the merciless head of the BC, Elena (Salma Hayek), and her brutal enforcer, Lado (Benicio Del Toro), underestimate the unbreakable bond among these three friends, Ben and Chon—with the reluctant, slippery assistance of a dirty DEA agent (John Travolta)—wage a seemingly unwinnable war against the cartel. And so begins a series of increasingly vicious ploys and maneuvers in a high stakes, savage battle of wills.
