Well, this has been eventful. Less than 24 hours after it was announced that the first trailer for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ will debut next Tuesday during ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ on ABC, the full teaser leaked online prematurely at around midnight UK time, and soon became the #1 topic on both Twitter and Reddit. With that being the case, Marvel has dropped the official trailer in hi-res, and they’ve also Tweeted out the following response to the leak.
Full credit to Marvel for handling this situation perfectly for fans. Business wise, I can imagine the people behind ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ are fuming, and understandably so. The trailer itself, which I think is fantastically ominous and destructive, raises a number of questions – for one, who the hell is Andy Serkis playing?!
ABC and Marvel have announced that the first teaser trailer for Joss Whedon’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ will debut with next Tuesday’s ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ episode. This news follows last week’s revelation that Robert Downey Jr. would be starring in ‘Captain America 3,’ with an eye for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to tackle the “Civil War” comicbook storyline. ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ airs on Tuesday at 9:00pm ET/PT (2:00am UK time) on ABC.
In the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ when Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
Writer-Director Rian Johnson Talks ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Creative Freedom & More: “It’s Just Joyous”
On a rather fantastic TalkHouse podcast episode featuring Rian Johnson and Terry Gilliam for the US theatrical release of Gilliam’s latest movie, ‘The Zero Theorem,’ Johnson opened up briefly about his work as writer-director on ‘Star Wars Episode VIII’ (he’s also rumored to be writing and perhaps helming ‘Star Wars Episode IX’). Asked how it feels to “take over someone else’s world”, the ‘Looper’ writer-director replied, “I’m just starting into it, but so far it’s been nothing but…honestly, it’s the most fun I’ve ever had writing. It’s just joyous.” Johnson also talked about not only growing up with the movies, but playing with Star Wars toys as a child. “The first movies I was making in my head were part of this world, so part of it is a direct connection —it’s almost like an automatic jacking-in into childhood in a weird way.”
The first official synopsis has arrived online for Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ and it literally contains no new information – which is understandable, given that we’re still around 9 months away from the film’s release. Opening on April 24th, 2015 in the UK and Ireland and May 1st, 2015 in the US, the cast list for the enormously anticipated flick includes Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Don Cheadle as Rhodey/Iron Patriot, along with newcomers Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Thomas Kretschmann as Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker, James Spader as Ultron, and Paul Bettany as The Vision. The newly released synopsis for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ is as follows.
With filming on ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ still underway in the UK, Matthew Myatt, who works at Airbourne Aviation flying club as a simulations engineer, has snapped the following image showcasing what looks to be like life-size models of a partly-built Millennium Falcon, Han Solo’s beloved spaceship, and a tarp-covered X-Wing fighter. Myatt originally thought his picture of the Millennium Falcon and an X-Wing fighter were experimental aircraft at Greenham Common, Berkshire (the location of a former RAF airbase). He told the BBC, “It wasn’t too clear until I viewed the picture and then realised what it was. I grew up with Star Wars so I started jumping around.”
According to a new report, Miltos Yerolemou, perhaps best known for his role as Syrio Forel in ‘Game of Thrones,’ has joined the cast of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII.’ Syrio Forel is a master sword-fighter and instructor hired by Eddard Stark to train Arya Stark in the series, and Yerolemou has played several other parts which involve sword fighting during his career. With that in mind, I think it’s safe to assume he may get up to some lightsabre-related shenanigans in the film. He joins his fellow ‘Game of Thrones’ alumni Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) in the latest ‘Star Wars’ film.
