Extended “White Apes” Clip & Sizzle Reel For ‘John Carter’ – Starring Taylor Kitsch & Lynn Collins

With the films release date fast approaching, Walt Disney Pictures Australia has released this extended clip and sizzle reel for Andrew Stanton’s (WALL•E, Finding Nemo) action-adventure epic ‘John Carter.’ ‘John Carter’ chronicles the journey of Civil-War veteran John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who finds himself battling a new and mysterious war amidst a host of strange Martian inhabitants, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). Set for release March 9th, the film also stars the likes of Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, and Thomas Hayden Church. ‘John Carter’ is an adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs ‘John Carter of Mars.’

New Image Of Mark Ruffalo As The Hulk In Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’

With ‘The Avengers’ release date on the horizon, Marvel has unveiled this new still from the film featuring the Hulk (who’s being brought to life in ‘The Avengers’ through motion-capture by Mark Ruffalo). I’m stoked for this film, I thoroughly enjoyed the recently released TV spot, in particular the final shot circling the Avengers team – good stuff! Directed by Joss Whedon, ‘The Avengers’ stars Chris Evans (Captain America/Steve Rogers), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye/Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man/Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki). The likes of Cobie Smulders, Clark Gregg, and Stellen Skarsgard co-star. ‘The Avengers’ is released in cinemas April 27th in the UK, and May 4th in the US. Fingers crossed it lives up to the hype!

Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron & Chris Hemsworth Feature In New ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’ Images

Teen Vogue has released this new batch of images from Rupert Sanders’ highly anticipated fairy tale re-imagining ‘Snow White and The Huntsman.’ ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’ is a re-telling of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, it features an expanded role for the part of the Huntsman. In the original version he is ordered to take Snow White into the woods and kill her, but instead lets her go. In this new take the Huntsman serves as Snow White’s mentor, teaching Snow White to fight and survive against the evil queen. Alongside Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth, the film also stars Sam Claflin, Noah Huntley, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Steven Graham and Nick Frost. ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’ is scheduled for a June 1st release. The action adventure movie is planned to be a trilogy.
In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. How did you approach adapting Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic sci-fi novel with ‘John Carter’?
Andrew Stanton: I was such a fan of the books as a kid and as a young teen, then I sort of fell away from them and lived off the memories of what it was like to read them all through my 20s and 30s. Then I sort of rediscovered them in my late 30s, and read them again, now with the eyes of somebody who’s had to write their own stories and had to make films. It made me really, not only appreciate what was really great stuff in the books, but also how much needed to be altered or changed or edited in order to not just make a better movie, a better story, but to capture the feeling you get from reading the ‘John Carter’ books. I think that’s really more of the job of the filmmaker when they’re adapting a book. It isn’t so much about being incredibly faithful, it’s great if you can be, but what’s more important is have you made the audience or the film-goer feel like what it felt for the reader to read the book? To me that’s the sign of a good adaptation. One thing I learned a long time ago is that you can’t really translate a book literally to the screen. It doesn’t work because it’s a different medium, which I think the same can be said in reverse.
