Official Synopsis Released For Oliver Stone’s Ensemble Crime Thriller ‘Savages’
Sep 15th
Universal Pictures’ have released this official synopsis for Oliver Stone’s upcoming crime thiller ‘Savages.’ The film is based on Don Winslow’s best-selling crime novel, ‘Savages: A Novel,’ which was named one of The New York Times’ Top 10 Books of 2010. Pencilled in for release September 28th 2012, ‘Savages’ features an all-star ensemble cast of Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch and Demian Bichir.
Laguna Beach entrepreneurs Ben (Aaron Johnson), a peaceful and charitable Buddhist, and his closest friend Chon (Tylor Kitsch), a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary, run a lucrative, homegrown industry—raising some of the best marijuana ever developed. They also share a one-of-a-kind love with the extraordinary beauty Ophelia (Blake Lively). Life is idyllic in their Southern California town…until the Mexican Baja Cartel decides to move in and demands that the trio partners with them.
When the merciless head of the BC, Elena (Salma Hayek), and her brutal enforcer, Lado (Benicio Del Toro), underestimate the unbreakable bond among these three friends, Ben and Chon—with the reluctant, slippery assistance of a dirty DEA agent (John Travolta)—wage a seemingly unwinnable war against the cartel. And so begins a series of increasingly vicious ploys and maneuvers in a high stakes, savage battle of wills.
Benicio Del Toro Signing On For Oliver Stone’s Crime Thriller ‘Savages’
Mar 23rd
Deadline have made known that Benicio Del Toro is signing on to play a deadly drug cartel enforcer named Lado in Oliver Stone’s upcoming crime thriller ‘Savages.’ For the past few weeks Del Toro had been link to role. Del Toro is one of my favourite actors working today, his involvement in a film automatically boosts my interest levels in it by roughly 74.438438677% (roughly). The fact that the film is based on highly acclaimed novel (‘Savages: A Novel’) gives me even more hope for this being top-notch.
If Dealine’s sources are on the button Aaron Johnson and Taloy Kitsch look set to be joining Del Toro as Ben and Chon, two best friends who are growers of marijuana in Laguna. They share an unusual love triangle relationship with a trippy girl named O. Their quiet lucrative life is interrupted by a visit from the drug enforcer Lado (Del Toro) who tells them they will have to work for his boss, a Mexican cartel matriarch. When they resist, O gets kidnapped and the ransom is every ill-gotten cent they’ve made.
Furthermore Salma Hayek is being tapped to play the cartel matriarch, an iron-fisted beauty who becomes intrigued and practically maternal over the kidnapped gal. Production is set to start on ‘Savages’ this summer.
Final Wolfman Poster. Finally Set For Release Febuary
Jan 24th
I’ve been looking forward to this for well over a year now, I almost gave up hope after the release date kept getting moved around, it was originally scheduled to be released all the way back in November 2008. Talk of re-shoots, the change of composer and the change of directors put a downer on this for me. The latest trailer and a couple clips brought back my faith though, I always enjoy Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins as well. After all this Twilight crap we need a good Wherewolf/monster film! I’ve got my fingers crossed I’m still not fully convinced though.
Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, THE WOLFMAN brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother…and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.
Lawrence Talbot’s childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate.
As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself…one he never imagined existed.

The Wolfman – New trailer
Oct 22nd

Originally I was really looking forward to this film, Benicio Del Toro is one of my favorite modern actors and it seemed like he put alot of time and effort into getting this film made. The fact that it was originally scheduled for November 12, 2008, but was then pushed back a couple times before finally having a February 12, 2010 release date had put me off slightly though. Yet now after seeing the new trailer I’m AMPED again the atmosphere of the film looks great, it looks real Gothic and not in a sissy Twilight way but a g’d up Sleepy Hollow, Bram Strokers Dracula way.
