Mark Ruffalo Talks On The Hulk/Bruce Banner In ‘The Avengers’
Jan 3rd
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Mark Ruffalo has shed some light on the difference between his incarnation of The Hulk/Bruce Banner in Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ in comparison to earlier movie versions: “I don’t think Bruce Banner’s any longer trying to run from the inevitable, which is his voice, and that’s a kind of maturation that all of us go through,” Mr. Ruffalo says. “At this point, I think he’s ready to turn and face this beast that he’s partially created and try to integrate it into his life and use it for the good that he intended it to be used for.”
“There’s a lot of world-weary charm in the character,” Mr. Ruffalo says, “a lot of sense of humor about himself and where he finds himself. He has this maturation that I think makes him ready to accept whatever his fate may be.”
Directed by Joss Whedon, ‘The Avengers’ also stars Chris Evans (Captain America/Steve Rogers), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye/Clint Barton), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man/Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki). The likes of Cobie Smulders, Clark Gregg, and Stellen Skarsgard co-star. ‘The Avengers’ opens in cinemas April 27th in the UK, and May 4th in the US. Marvel’s current release slate is ‘The Avengers’ next summer, ‘Iron Man 3′ in May 2013, ‘Thor 2′ in November 2013, ‘Untitled Marvel 1′ in April 2014, and ‘Untitled Marvel 2′ in May 2014. Edward Norton Ousted As The Hulk/Bruce Banner For ‘The Avengers’
Jul 11th

This is a bit of an enthusiasm bummer for me. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has stated that Edward Norton has been ousted as The Hulk/Bruce Banner for the upcoming ‘The Avengers’ flick, with the superhero role being re-cast in the coming weeks. Marvel are notoriously cheap so I don’t really buy the ‘not one based on monetary factors’. I’m a big fan of Ed Norton so this is a big loss for me, I thought he played the role of The Hulk perfectly. The talent surrounding The Avengers is still stellar, Robert Downey Jr and Don Cheadle are set to reprise their roles as Iron Man and War Machine, respectively. Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role from the upcoming Thor as Thor. Samuel L. Jackson is signed on to play Nick Fury. Scarlett Johansson, as Black Widow, Chris Evans will reprise his role as Captain America from the forthcoming film Captain America: The First Avenger, and according to reports Jeremy Renner is in final negotiations to play Hawkeye….niceness in a bottle.
This is the statement Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige released to Hitfix. “We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in the Avengers,” wrote Feige. “Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.” The Avengers is set to be released May 4th, 2012.
