First TV Spot For Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’ – Starring Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin & John Goodman
Sep 5th
Warner Bros has unveiled this first TV spot for Ben Affleck’s upcoming dramatic thriller ‘Argo.’ Based on true events, ‘Argo’ chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis – the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country.
Alongside Ben Affleck – who’s also directing, the film stars Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Kerry Bishe, Kyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, and Taylor Schilling. I’m eagerly anticipating this film, Ben Affleck has proved himself a great director with both ‘The Town’ and ‘Gone Baby Gone’. Warner Bros will release ‘Argo’ in association with GK Films, a Smoke House Pictures production. ‘Argo’ is set for release October 12th. Check out the production notes for the film below the new TV spot.
Bryan Cranston Interview For ‘Total Recall’
Aug 3rd
Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. Inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick, ‘Totall Recall’ is directed by Len Wiseman. ‘Total Recall’ lands in cinemas August 3rd in the US and August 29th in the UK. My other ‘Total Recall’ interviews can be read here: Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel, and Kate Beckinsale.
How did you approach the role of this ruthless, dastardly Chancellor Cohaagen?
Bryan Cranston: Cohaagan is a man who has brilliant ideas, and if you doubt that he’ll tell you himself (laughs). With Cohaagan, the way that I wanted approach this was that I’m not trying to be greedy or dictatorial. It’s a case of me having great ideas, and I want to lead these people in the Colony and the new United Federation of Britain to a better life. And I have the way to do it, I have the plan and it just has to be executed. And if you don’t follow it, well, you will be executed, because we have to think globally – what’s in the best interest for everyone. And these insurgents, these “terrorists”, who come in and try to throw a wrench in my plan, they have to be stopped because it’s not good for this entire world. So that was my approach to it, that he just has to squash this uprising.
Kate Beckinsale Interview For ‘Total Recall’

Your character Lori, she goes from a seemingly loving wife into a ruthless killer in a split-second. What was it like playing someone with that duality? And also, playing an outright villain?
Kate Beckinsale: I’ve never played a bad guy before, I‘ve never played a villain. I loved the fact that she flips from being this very sweet, concerned wife, into this killing machine in the space of a second. We found it fun to make her American when she was nice and English when she was horrible (laughs). If I’ve done a movie that required fighting or action, I’ve always been on the side of truth and justice. But the thing is, my character thinks she is on the side of truth and justice. Also, there’s a slightly maniacal side of her – she’s slightly out of control, and that’s always fun for an actor to play. There was a lot there.
Jessica Biel Interview For ‘Total Recall’

What themes and questions raised in ‘Total Recall’ attracted you to this project?
Jessica Biel: This script was written so well. It really, for me, feels like we’re tapping into what Phillip K. Dick’s short story was about, with issues of identity, relationship, perspective. The questions of who am I, what do I know, what do I remember, what is my reality? These kinds of themes I really like in that story and it’s running over into this story. Also, Len’s vision of it, everything that he had in his mind what this world is going to look like and how these two people are really in the midst of a tragic love story – Melina and Quaid. Quaid doesn’t even remember her. And then with Melina, she doesn’t know what he knows, or if he’s on her side. Does he remember that they love each other, that they are passionately connected? That’s what I was interested in. And how do we maintain that throughout these crazy hover car chases, wild explosions, amazing fight sequences, robots, how do we maintain that? Because that is the most important key.
New Extended TV Spot For ‘Total Recall’ – Starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale & Jessica Biel
Jul 30th
Empire has set loose this action-packed international TV spot for Len Wiseman’s upcoming sci-fi thriller ‘Total Recall.’ Starring the likes of Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bill Nighy, Bryan Cranston, and Ethan Hawke, the film is based on the Philip K. Dick story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale.” The original ‘Total Recall’ followed a man (Arnold Schwarzenegger) haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars who buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air. The new story ditches the Martian storyline and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side. Vilos Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) is the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai. Jessica Biel plays Melina, while Kate Beckinsale plays Lori. ‘Total Recall’ arrives in cinemas August 3rd in the US and August 29th in the UK. Check out my interview with Colin Farrell for the film here (more to come).

What was it about this story, this world, that intrigued you to explore further and be a part of?
Colin Farrell: When I saw the artwork and when I read the script, saw the concept, I went, “This is something I would really love to see, this is a world that a wanted to be taken to as an audience member.” I knew that the scope of this was massive, it’s a huge film. Just the pallet that the story takes place on, the canvas that the story takes place on. And I knew that it was going to be that kind of gargantuan thing when I met Len Wiseman and he showed me some the drawings, some of his conceptual art. The world that the story exists in is something that I really wanted to be a part of, when I saw the conceptual drawings I was really excited. And I haven’t seen the film, I’ll see it on the night of the premier. I mean, I saw a really rough cut, but I haven’t seen the film with the effect shots in. But I can’t wait to see it, it looked amazing.
