New Image & TV Spot For James Watkins’ ‘The Women In Black’ – Starring Daniel Radcliffe
Dec 15th
Momentum Pictures/CBS Films has released this new image and TV spot for the Daniel Radcliffe-starring supernatural horror/thriller ‘The Woman In Black,’ James Watkins’ upcoming adaptation of the novel by Susan Hill. Watkins was the helmer behind ‘Eden Lake,’ a movie I’m a massive fan of. The films UK release date is Febuary 10th 2012, while it’s set for release Febuary 3rd 2012 in the US. Alongside Daniel Radcliffe, ‘The Woman In Black’ stars Ciarán Hinds, Janet McTeer, Alisa Khazanova, Mary Stockley and Lucy May Barker.
Based on the classic ghost story, THE WOMAN IN BLACK tells the tale of Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe), a lawyer who is forced to leave his young son and travel to a remote village to attend to the affairs of the recently deceased owner of Eel Marsh House.
Working alone in the old mansion, Kipps begins to uncover the town’s tragic and tortured secrets and his fears escalate when he discovers that local children have been dying under mysterious circumstances. When those closest to him become threatened by the vengeful woman in black, Kipps must find a way to break the cycle of terror. THE WOMAN IN BLACK also stars Ciaran Hinds (TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY) and Janet McTeer (TUMBLEWEEDS), was adapted from Susan Hill’s novel for the screen by Jane Goldman (KICK ASS) and directed by James Watkins (EDEN LAKE).

Pathe has let loose this new clip from Phyllida Lloyd’s (Mamma Mia!) ’The Iron Lady,’ which stars Meryl Streep as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. ‘The Iron Lady’ tells the story of “Thatcher, a woman who smashed through the barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male-dominated world. The story concerns power and the price that is paid for power, and is a surprising and intimate portrait of an extraordinary and complex woman.”
Alexandra Roach and Harry Lloyd will portray the Thatchers in their younger years, Jim Broadbent will play Denis Thatcher. Olivia Colman, Nicholas Farrell, Susan Brown, Roger Allam, Anthony Head, Julian Wadham, Pip Torrens, Nick Dunning, Richard E. Grant, David Westhead, Angus Wright and John Sessions are also among the bumper supporting cast for the biopic. ‘The Iron Lady’ is scheduled for release December 16th in the US, and January 6th in the UK. Look out for my interviews with the cast next week.

Two New Clips From ‘Carnage’ – Starring Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet & Christoph Waltz
Nov 21st

Sony Pictures has unveiled these three new clips from Roman Polanski’s upcoming dramatic black comedy ‘Carnage.’ The film – which runs at 79 minutes since it plays out in real time - follows two sets of parents who meet after their children are involved in a fight, only for things to quickly become heated. The two sets of parents in question are portrayed by Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz. ’Carnage’ is set for release December 16th in the US and Febuary 2nd in the UK. The film is based on Yasmina Reza‘s Tony-winning play ’God of Carnage.’ Check out my interview with Kate Winslet for the film here.
A showdown between two kids: about eleven, in a local playground. Swollen lips, broken teeth… Now the parents of the “victim” have invited the parents of the “bully” to their apartment to sort if out. Cordial banter gradually develops a razor-sharp edge as all four parents reveal their laughable contradictions and grotesque prejudices. None of them will escape the ensuing carnage.
Three New Clips From Luc Besson’s Michelle Yeoh Starring Aung San Suu Kyi Biopic ‘The Lady’
Nov 20th

These three new clips have been released online for Luc Besson’s (La Femme Nikita, The Fifth Element) upcoming biopic about pro-democracy icon and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, starring Michelle Yeoh as Aung. Aung San Suu Kyi became an icon for democratic freedom after she spent 15 of the last 21 years under house arrest in Burma after leading the National League for Democracy in an election victory over the ruling military junta in 1990. I’ve been eagerly anticipating this film, words can’t begin to describe my admiration for Aung San Suu Kyi. The Lady’ is set for release November 30th. Check out my interview with Michelle Yeoh for the film here.
The Lady is the extraordinary story of Aung San Suu Kyi (Michelle Yeoh) and her husband, Michael Aris (David Thewlis). It is also the story of the peaceful quest of the woman who is at the core of Burma‟s democracy movement. Despite distance, long separations, and a dangerously hostile regime, their love endures until the very end. It‟s a story of devotion and human understanding set against a backdrop of political turmoil that continues today. The Lady was written over a period of three years by Rebecca Frayn. Interviews with key figures in Aung San Suu Kyi‟s entourage enabled her to reconstruct for the first time the true story of Burma‟s national heroine.
