First Images From ‘Fright Night’ – Starring Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin & David Tennant
Apr 7th
Moviefone have got their mitts on the first batch of images from Craig Gillespie’s upcoming remake of the 1985 cult classic horror-comedy ‘Fright Night.’ I’ve been keeping my eye of this flick, I’ve been told nothing but great things by a few insiders. The film stars Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. ‘Fright Night’ hits cinemas August 19th.
Senior Charlie Brewster (Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.
Three New Images From ‘Horrible Bosses’ – Starring Jason Bateman, Kevin Spacey & Colin Farrell
Apr 5th
Entertainment Weekly have got their mitts on these three new images from Seth Gordan’s (The King of Kong, Four Christmases) impending comedy ‘Horrible Bosses.’ The film features a stellar cast in Jason Bateman, Kevin Spacey, Charlie Day, Jamie Foxx (playing a character named ‘Motherfucker Jones’ no less), Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis and Isaiah Mustafa. ‘Horrible Bosses’ is set for release July 8th in the US, and July 22nd in the UK. I’ve got high hopes for this flick – expect to see a trailer shortly.
For Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day), the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses (Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston) into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con (Jamie Foxx), the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers…permanently. There’s only one problem: even the best laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them.
Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston To Star As The Villain Opposite Colin Farrell In The ‘Total Recall’ Reboot
Mar 30th
Heat Vision report that Breaking Bad’s three-time Emmy winner Bryan Cranston is set to play the villain opposite Colin Farrell in Sony Pictures’ Total Recall remake/reboot. The project is said to be a ‘contemporized adaptation’ of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger genre classic, which was based on the Philip K. Dick story, “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale”.
The new story involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.
Cranston would play Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.
Both Cranston and Farrell are quality actors, this casting news gets my thoroughly unimportant important stamp of approval. Hollywood is excelling at remakes, I’m sure one day they would have rebooted and remade every memorable film from the past three decades, and I’m sure when that day comes they’ll be rebooting the reboots and remaking the remakes…….or even start producing remakequels!
Colin Farrell Confirmed As The Lead In Len Wiseman’s ‘Total Recall’ Remake
Jan 10th
In a recent interview with Collider Sony Pictures Producer Neal Moritz revealed that Colin Farrell has been confirmed for the lead part in the upcoming Total Recall remake/re-adaptation. The project is said to be a ‘contemporized adaptation’ of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger genre classic, which was based on the Philip K. Dick story, “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale”.
“I think the world that Len Wiseman is creating is incredible. It’s a real world, a real future world, where the cities have just gotten so overcrowded that the cities are just built up, up, up, up. It’s just everything I see on the movie, every pre-vis I see on the movie, every conceptual drawing on this movie that I see just makes me more and more excited. We’re playing it like a real world, but there’s all these technological advancements to the real world, and it’s just really, it’s cool. It’s an awesome movie. I’m dying—as a fan of movies, more than anything, it’s a movie that I’m just dying to see.”
Colin Farrell is a quality actor, this casting appointment gets my thoroughly unimportant important stamp of approval. Over the last few months Farrell had been rumoured to be in the running for the part along with Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender. Hollywood is excelling at remakes, I’m sure one day they would have rebooted and remade every memorable film from the past three decades, and I’m sure when that day comes they’ll be rebooting the reboots and remaking the remakes!
Colin Farrell Interview For Peter Weir’s ‘The Way Back’
Dec 27th
‘The Way Back’ is Peter Weir’s awe-inspiring epic inspired by the true events of a group of escaped prisoners from a Siberian gulag in 1940. The film is based on several sources, most notably the Slavomir Rawicz book ‘The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom’. The book is Rawicz’s account of being captured by the Red Army in 1939 and his journey to freedom with other inmates, who crossed the Siberian arctic, the Gobi desert and the Himalayas, before finally settling in Tibet and India. The film features a fantastic cast in Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Mark Strong and Saoirse Ronan. Check out what Colin Farrell had to say about the film below.
I read that you didn’t see Valka as the character you necessarily wanted to play. Was it easy to research where this guy came from?
Colin Farrell: From reading the script I saw Valka as a big stretch. It was something that was incredibly disparate to anything I’d approached before. I had no relationship to that time in history, or that country, so I knew it’d be a journey of discovery, and that’s exactly what it proved to be.
To be honest Valka was one of my least favourite characters to play. I felt very sad, he’s a very lonely fella, but he’s also somebody who’s at once a victim of and a huge proponent of the system which formed him. I found that really, really interesting.
The tattoos Valka sports in the film are a big part of his character…
Colin Farrell: There’s an incredible, incredible significance to every single drop of ink that appears on any of these men’s bodies, much more so than the couple of drunk markings I have on my body (laughs). But each single tattoo referenced either a crime committed or an amount of time done. Again, it was just something that was very foreign to me, that was very exotic, as was the accent and the language.
New Poster For Peter Weir’s The Way Back – Starring Colin Farrell, Ed Harris & Jim Sturgess
Dec 1st
This new poster has been released online for Peter Weir’s wonderful looking ‘The Way Back’ via IMPA. I’ve been sold on this film ever since it was announced. From what I’ve seen it looks like after five Oscar nominations Peter Weir (Master And Commander, The Truman Show, Witness) may be in the running again to bring home that faceless gold man. The cast he has assembled is stellar in Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Mark Strong and Saoirse Ronan. I’ve got a screening for this tomorrow and I can’t wait! The Way Back is set for release December 26th.
