New Images, Character Banners, Character Descriptions & Synopsis For ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’
Dec 15th
The official website for Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ is now online (http://theamazingspiderman.com/) thanks to the good folks over at Sony Pictures. Accompanying it is a tonne of new images, character banners, character descriptions and synopsis – interestingly the synopsis hints at a number of sequels, “This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story.” I’ve got full faith in Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, he had an amazing 2010 with both his performances in ‘The Social Network’ and ‘Never Let Me Go’ earning great critical acclaim.
Based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the highly anticipated 3D action-adventure, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ will be swinging onto the big screen July 3rd 2012. The film stars Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy), Rhys Ifans (Dr. Curt Conners/The Lizard), Denis Leary (George Stacy), Campbell Scott (Richard Parker), Irrfan Khan (Nels Van Adder/Proto-Goblin), Martin Sheen (Ben Parker) and Sally Field (May Parker). ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves. Sony Pictures have set a release date for the sequel for May 2nd 2014.

Daniel Craig & Rooney Mara Empire Magazine Cover For ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’
Sep 26th
Empire have released this cover for their upcoming November issue, in the process giving us a new look at Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara for David Fincher’s ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.’ In the film Rooney Mara stars as Lisbeth Salander, the young heroine who investigates the Vanger family with journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig). Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgård, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Steven Berkoff, David Dencik, Yorick van Wageningen, Bengt C.W. Carlsson, Mathilda von Essen and Goran Visnjic also star. ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ is based on the first novel in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, which altogether have sold over 50 million copies in 46 countries and become a worldwide phenomenon. The screenplay is by Steven Zaillian, while Trent Reznor is on score duty, making this the second feature collaboration between Reznor and director David Fincher after ‘The Social Network’ – which earned Reznor an Academy Award. ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ is to be released in cinemas December 21st. Check out what Rooney Mara had to say about Lisbeth Salander:
“There were discussions early on where people were like, ‘She’s a superhero!’ And you go, ‘No, she’s not. Superheroes live in a world of good and evil, and she’s far more complex than a superhero. She’s been compromised. She’s been subjugated. She’s been marginalised. She’s been swept into the gutter and she’s had a part in it. She dresses like trash because she’s someone who has been betraued and hurt so badly, by forces beyond her control, that she’s just decided to be refuse. She can sit anywhere she wants on the bus, because nobody wants to deal with her.”

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Entertainment Weekly Cover Image
Jul 14th

Entertainment Weekly have released this image of their upcoming cover story on Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ featuring Andrew Garfield in his Spidey outfit. Furthermore EW posted a couple interesting quotes from the piece: Four years after Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire, The Amazing Spider-Man promises to be a “more contemporary,” “more gritty,” and “more character-driven” look at the comic book hero. He’s a hero the 27-year-old Garfield knows well. Growing up, “I related to Peter Parker [Spidey’s alter ego] so much because I felt like someone else inside,” he says. “I loved the comic books and the animated TV series and I even dressed up as Spider-Man as a kid.” Adds Webb: “Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that’s a Spider-Man story we haven’t seen before.”
Marc Webb has put together a fine cast for his upcoming Spider-Man flick. I’ve got full faith in Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, he had an amazing 2010 with both his performances in ‘The Social Network’ and ‘Never Let Me Go’ earning great critical acclaim. ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ swings back onto the big screen in both 3D and 2D July 3rd 2012. The film stars Garfield, Stone, Ifans, Sheen, Sally Field Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Irrfan Khan and Denis Leary. Expect to see the trailer online next week.
Two New Images From ‘The Hobbit’ Featuring Ian McKellen’s Gandalf & Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins
Jun 29th
Empire Magazine have unleashed two new images featuring Ian McKellen’s Gandalf the Grey and Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins from their recently released The Hobbit cover issue. These images just further add to my fiendish excitement for Peter Jackson’s upcoming two-part “The Hobbit” feature film adaptation. Freeman really does look perfect as Baggins.
Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings,” which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.” ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ has been pencilled in for a December 14th, 2012 release date. ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ will hit cinemas December 13th, 2013.
