First Magazine Cover For ‘The Hobbit’ Featuring Ian McKellen’s Gandalf & Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins
Jun 27th
The good folks at Empire have unveiled their new Hobbit magazine cover featuring younger versions of Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) and Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman). It’s quite uncommon for a movie to garner a magazine cover practically a year and a half away from release, that being said very few movies have been as hotly anticipated as Peter Jackson’s upcoming two-part feature film adaptation of “The Hobbit”!
This cover just adds to my fiendish excitement for both ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ and ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again.’ Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings,” which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.” ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ has been pencilled in for a December 14th, 2012 release date. ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ will hit cinemas December 13th, 2013. The latest issue of Empire hits stands June 30th.
Empire Releases A Special Harry Potter Issue In Time For ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2′
May 23rd
As the the final instalment in the Harry Potter franchise draws near (July 15th), Empire Magazine have put together a special Potter issue, bountiful with goodies including a collectors portfolio, ‘The Ultimate Movie Celebration of Harry Potter,’ which features exclusive photography, a plethora of interviews with the key cast and crew, and never-before-seen behind-the-scenes images from the Warner Bros vault to bring you the untold story behind all eight films.
For good measure the issue also features two covers. The outer sleeve of the magazine shows Harry, Ron and Hermione in action from Deathly Hallows, while inside they have an exclusive shot of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as themselves, all grown up after first entering the Harry Potter world a decade ago. Look out for this issue hitting shelves May 26th.

The latest issue of Empire Magazine features a cover story for the upcoming Marvel adaptation ‘Captain America: The First Avenger,’ giving us a great look at Chris Evans in his Captain America garb. ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ comes to cinemas July 22nd, 2011 in the US, and July 29th 2011 in the UK. The film stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Neal McDonough, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Hayley Atwell and Toby Jones. Expect to see more images from the cover story in the coming week.
During the dark days of World War II, army grunt Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to be injected with an experimental serum that turns him into the superhero known as Captain America. Hayley Atwell co-stars as Peggy Carter, Sebastian Stan is sidekick Bucky, and Hugo Weaving is the villainous Red Skull.
New Kick Ass Empire Magazine Fold Out Cover
Jan 27th
In general I’m not too big on magazine’s, online has completely taken over in my opinion. It’s more up to date, doesn’t have as many restrictions and generally has more character. That being said I’m a massive fan of Empire Magazine, here’s there new fold out Kick-Ass cover.
Inside, we have interviews with all the cast and crew, including Nicolas Cage on the influence of Adam West’s Batman (“That’s Big Daddy’s Jungian muse, to help him accomplish the things he accomplishes”) and Matthew Vaughn on why he originally had Zac Efron in mind for the Red Mist role now occupied by Christopher Mintz-Plasse. “We initially met Chris Mintz-Plasse for Dave, because we were thinking about making Dave (Kick-Ass) a really, really geeky kid. And we thought it would be interesting if Red Mist was the much cooler guy.”
