CineHeroes has premiered these first looks at Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming animated film, ‘Wreck-It Ralph,’ which features the voice talents of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch. Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama) will direct this story of a video game bad guy who sets out to prove he can be the hero. ‘Wreck-It Ralph is set for release November 12th in US and December 26th in the UK.

Wreck-It Ralph (voice of Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan—win a medal—but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade.

The voice cast sounds great, and it visually looks eye-poppingingly fantastic, however it just doesn’t come across as inspired as Pixar’s previous efforts. The voice-cast includes Owen Wilson, John Ratzenberger, Bonnie Hunt, Tony Shalhoub, Cheech Marin, Larry The Cable Guy, Michael Caine and Emily Mortimer. ‘Cars 2′ comes to cinemas June 24th, 2011. You’re now a Disney princess, what does that mean to you? Who was your favourite princess from days gone by?

Mandy Moore: Oh goodness yeah, I sit here and think what little girl doesn’t dream of being a Disney princess!

And some little boys.

Mandy Moore: (Laughs) Of course, everyone’s included (Laughs). I grew up in Orlando so somehow I feel like it’s in my blood somehow. The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin and so many films before that were such seminal parts of my childhood, it’s still kind of  mind-boggling to sit here and be a part of Disney lineage, it’s so cool.

I would say The Little Mermaid was probably my favourite, just because it’s the first recollection I have of going to the movie theatre, then owning it on VHS and wearing it out by watching it incessantly over and over again.

How did singing for a animated film compare to your recording career? Did you approach it differently?

Mandy Moore: Yeah, I actually went into it thinking the singing would be easy, I thought I’ve been to a studio before how hard can it be? I didn’t realise the challenges of singing in character. You know, when you go in the studio and you’re singing music that you had a hand in at writing, there’s almost not a lot of thought behind it, I just sing. But being in the studio, singing this music and trying to be in a certain headspace was challenging, because I couldn’t approach it how I would automatically. Luckily Alan Menken  was very hands-on, and so humble, he knows exactly what he wants and how to get it out of you, I trusted I was in such good hands, I just presented myself to him. There were different accents that needed to be punctuated, certain words.

The actual voicing of the dialogue in the film, I think I was more slightly disappointed initially that the actors weren’t working together, because I just thought it would be fun! You know, the camaraderie of the gang all being together, but I was lucky to have Nathan and Byron [the directors] who were so thorough in explaining everything to me. Nathan would read to me most of the time, it was nice to know that I had them on my side, they were in everyone’s session so they knew what they wanted. You do feel slightly crazy at the end of the day, like you’re talking to yourself. Other than that it’s such a blast to use your imagination like that.

I read you didn’t have a full script for the film?

Mandy Moore: I never saw a full script, partly because the way I would work coming into the sessions you’d only work for four or five hours. Although that isn’t a very long time, there’s so much to do and so much different ways of giving a line of dialogue you would only get through certain portions of the film. I would go into work and we would only be focusing on certain parts, sometimes skipping around as well. I never read anything front to back, that’s why I was so thankful to work with Nathan and Byron, they must have told me the story 800 times (laughs), they’d have to keep reminding me. Everything didn’t come together until I saw it on the big screen, at the time I was thinking ‘a horse with a with a sword…..really’ (laughs). I just had to trust them.

Entertainment Weekly recently had a chat with Johnny Depp about portraying Tonto in Disney’s upcoming screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger. Depp gave some insight into what we can expect from the flick:

“I think it’s going to be good, when we have a chance to put it up on its feet,” Depp said. “What we’ve got so far screenplay-wise is really great, really funny.”

Depp, who is part Cherokee, added that the Tonto character will be different in the feature film. “I always felt Native Americans were badly portrayed in Hollywood films over the decades. It’s a real opportunity for me to give a salute to them. Tonto was a sidekick in all the Lone Ranger series. [This film] is a very different approach to that partnership. And a funny one I think.”

Gore Verbinski will helm ‘Lone Ranger’ for Walt Disney Pictures/Jerry Bruckheimer Films, reuniting the director with Depp for their fifth film together. ‘Lone Ranger’ is a big screen adaptation of the classic radio and TV program which followed a masked Texas Ranger in the American Old West, who galloped around righting wrongs with his Native American sidekick Tonto. In time for the UK release of their thoroughly entertaining animated flick ‘Tangled’, the good folks over at Disney have sent me these two delightful character Q&A’s for the two leads in the film – Flynn Rider and Rapunzel. Tangled is out in UK cinemas January 28th, 2011. Have a butchers below!

FLYNN RIDER is his own biggest fan, and he has long relied on his wit, charm and good looks to get out of even the stickiest situation—and his life just happens to be full of sticky situations. Flynn is a thief looking for the one last, big score that will allow him to finally live the life he’s always dreamed of. He’s never been closer to having it all when he meets Rapunzel, an odd girl with ridiculously long hair. Rapunzel seems to be the only girl in the world immune to Flynn’s moves, and for the first time ever he seems to have met his match.

Rider is currently in an unlikely alliance-slash-epic journey with the girl from the tower. An adventure of a lifetime, it may just help him realize that sometimes you don’t know what you want… until it hits you over the head—literally.

You’ve been described as a “charming” bandit. Are you?

Flynn Rider: Am I charming? [SMILES] Well, you be the judge. [SMILES AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH MEANING] Scratch that. I don’t need another judge—plen-ty of those to contend with already, thank you very much. So… I’m sorry—you want to know if I’m charming. Well, it’s like this. I’m a good guy at heart, you know? I may have borrowed a thing or two from people who have a thousand things or two… thousand. But I mean no harm, really. And if a warm smile or a kind word to them or those they hire to hunt me down makes their day a bit brighter—then so be it: I’m charming.

What attracted you to Rapunzel?

Flynn Rider: I’d like to say it was her long golden hair, her big green eyes, her amazing voice, and a—shall we say—spirited personality that could keep even the most charming bandit on his toes. But the truth is… well… it was her tower. Tall. Nearly impossible to break in to… the PERFECT hiding place.

Hey, you wanted the truth. I mean, she is beautiful and all of those things. She’s also good with a frying pan—but not in the way you think. [RUBS HEAD]

Do you have a dream?

Flynn Rider: Well… yeah, I have a dream. Everybody has a dream.  Oh—you want to know what it is? [LAUGHS] Dreams are tricky things. People tend to want the one thing they can’t have. So for me, I’ve always wanted… well, what’s the nice way to say it? Freedom. Independence. A carefree life. And for a kid who never had those things—not in the way I wanted anyway—the only way I knew how to get them was with money. Piles of it.

Why would a girl like Rapunzel pick you to be her guide?

Flynn Rider: Why wouldn’t she? [SMILES] Seriously… why wouldn’t she? I’m an explorer… of sorts. I’ve been around. I know all the best places—caves, castles, pubs. Plus, I’m the first guy to show up in her tower who she could trust. Well, I’m the first guy to show up in her tower, anyway.

You’ve teamed up in the past with the Stabbington Brothers, but yet, they don’t seem to be your biggest fans. What gives?

Flynn Rider: Never trust a guy who wears an eye patch… or his brother. These guys grow a few biceps and suddenly they’re in charge, you know? Ah, let’s face it: they’re thieves, I’m a thief—it’s not exactly a relationship built on trust. In the real world, it’s survival of the fittest—or in this case—survival of the clever…est… best looking? Hey, whatever works.

What’s up with your horse Maximus?

Flynn Rider: Whoa, whoa, whoa. That fleabag is NOT my horse. MY horse wouldn’t stalk me all day and all night for no good reason. MY horse wouldn’t make it his life’s mission to bring a guy like me to justice. MY horse wouldn’t follow me to the most precarious of circumstances—just to get his teeth on my satchel. Come to think of it—Max and I have a lot in common. But he’s still a fleabag.

RAPUNZEL may have lived her entire life locked inside a tower, but she’s no damsel in distress. The girl with the 70 feet of golden hair is an energetic, inquisitive teenager who fills her days with art, books and imagination. She’s full of curiosity about the world, and she can’t help but feel that her true destiny lies outside the lonely tower walls. She’s always obeyed Mother Gothel by staying hidden and keeping her magical hair a secret, but her 18th birthday triggers her need for adventure.

Rapunzel is currently enjoying said adventure with the help of a charming thief named Flynn Rider. Though Mother Gothel would surely not approve, Rapunzel’s hair-raising journey might untangle a few secrets along the way.

Describe your relationship with Mother Gothel. Is this a typical mother-daughter relationship, filled with ups and downs?

Rapunzel: There are certainly a lot of ups and downs—though it usually involves me letting down my hair, and Mother grabbing hold for a ride up into our tower. Is that typical? Mother loves me to death—she says so all the time. She goes to great lengths to protect me… though there are days I wish she wouldn’t.

Your first encounter with Flynn Rider wasn’t exactly ideal. What was going through your mind?

Rapunzel: Honestly? I was searching the tower for something good to strike him with. I was shocked at first—I mean, there was a person right there in our tower. And a little afraid… there was a PERSON in our tower! But once I knocked him out and dragged him to the closet—I felt……strong. When it comes to intruders—and knocking them out—I highly recommend the frying pan. Very effective.

What are your hobbies?

Rapunzel: Hmmmm… hobbies. I lead a pretty quiet life, tower-bound and all. Is cleaning a hobby? [SMILES] I do like to read… and play guitar… and knit. I do some cooking and baking and ballet dancing. I like puzzles and pottery and candle-making. And painting. I love to paint. The tower is covered with my paintings—all of them, in some way, reflect my dreams, my fantasies. I do love daydreaming. I like to sit by the window with Pascal— my chameleon and my confidant—and fantasize about someday seeing the floating lights.

So what is it about these lights? What makes them so special?

Rapunzel: That’s what I want to find out! Every year on my birthday—MY birthday—I see hundreds of floating lights. I look forward to those lights. It’s as if each one is a flickering symbol of life… or maybe love… or hope. Yes, it’s definitely hope. From a distance, they’re beautiful—breathtaking. Can you imagine what it would be like to see the lights in person? [SIGHS] I can.

Why would a girl like you pick Flynn Rider to be her guide?

Rapunzel: He’s worldly, right? Of course everyone seems worldly to me. I knew when I met him that he was right for the job because he was… well… there. I didn’t exactly have a lot of options. And with criteria that included having spent time—any time—OUTSIDE my tower, it was a pretty good bet that he’d qualify. Besides, I think the whole swashbuckling bandit thing is a big act.

Seventy feet of magical hair—burden or blessing?

Rapunzel: Both. I mean… it’s a LOT of hair. Brushing it is quite a chore… and hoisting Mother into this tower day in and day out isn’t easy. The hardest part by far though is the hiding. Mother says there are lots of people who’d like to get their hands on my magical hair. So it gets lonely up here. But all in all, I really do think my hair is a blessing. Mother tells me all the time how special I am because of it. And it really comes in handy—I can hang from the rafters while I paint, and if a bandit should invade my tower, 70 feet of magical hair is an ideal tool for tying him up while I decide what to do next. How many girls can say that?

Lightning McQueen (aka Lightning)

Number 95 Lightning McQueen is still a hotshot racecar, but his rookie days are past him. Now a permanent resident of Radiator Springs, Lightning has become a bona fide worldwide celebrity as winner of four Piston Cups.

After his latest win, Lightning returns home to enjoy life in the slow lane for a while with sweetheart Sally, bestfriend Mater and the rest of his Radiator Springs family. His off-season isunexpectedly cut short when Mater inadvertently prompts Lightning to enter the World Grand Prix, a high profile, three-part exhibition race that will take him around the globe.

With a fresh custom paint job and real, working headlights, Lightning sets off to Japan, Italy and England with Mater in tow for the adventure of a lifetime. Luigi

Radiator Springs resident Luigi is a big-hearted, gregarious and excitable Italian Fiat 500. A tire virtuoso andowner of Luigi’s Casa Della Tires, he and his sidekick Guido join Lightning and Mater as members of Team Lightning McQueen for the World Grand Prix. Luigi is also an aficionado and fanatic for all things Italian, and is particularly enchanted with Ferrari race cars. When the competition takes the team to his hometown of Porto Corsa, Italy, Luigi is over the moon to introduce the Radiator Springs crew to his charming village and the wonderful ways of Italy. His family welcomes the gang from Radiator Springs in a big, passionate Italian way: Amore!

Guido

Guido, the little Italian forklift, is the backbone of Casa Della Tires. He’s Luigi’s assistant and best friend, and together they are the biggest Ferrari racing fans in Carburetor County. A car of few English words other than “pit stop,” Guido is a force to be reckoned with when he’s changing tires in the pits during a race. Joining Team Lightning McQueen for the World Grand Prix, Guido will get to show off his turbo-charged, pedal-to-the-metal pit stops on the global stage…and maybe, just maybe, he’ll see some Ferraris!

Fillmore

Radiator Springs’ resident hippie Fillmore is an easy-going, peace-loving 1960s Volkswagen van. And as his friend and neighbor Sarge likes to say, “once a hippie, always a hippie.” At his popular shop Fillmore’s Organic Fuel, Fillmore brews his own fuel, which he sells with Bohemian accessories like tie-dyed mud flaps. But when he learns that the World Grand Prix will be run exclusively on the alternative fuel Allinol, Fillmore closes up shop and signs on as the fuel expert for Team Lightning McQueen.

Sarge

Green Army Jeep Sarge is a patriotic veteran who runs the Radiator Springs Army surplus store, Sarge’s Surplus Hut. Sarge’s no-nonsense attitude often leads to bickering with his hippie friend, neighbor and polar opposite, Fillmore. Despite their differences, the two are almost inseparable – even throughout their world travels. A security specialist with military connections around the globe, Sarge joins Lightning and Mater at the World Grand Prix as a member of Team Lightning McQueen.

Mack

Mack is Lightning McQueen’s trusted long-haul driver, crisscrossing the country from race to race, always with a smile on his grill. After dropping Lightning off in Radiator Springs with his fourth Piston Cup championship trophy, Mack sets off with the rest of the pit crew for a well-deserved vacation. Who knew that Lightning would end up jetting off to a race around the globe in the World Grand Prix?

John Lasseter returns to the driver’s seat to direct this follow-up to his 2006 Golden Globe®-winning “Cars.” “Cars 2” is co-directed by Brad Lewis, producer of the Oscar®-winning film “Ratatouille,” and produced by visual effects industry veteran Denise Ream (associate producer, “Up”; visual effects executive producer, “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”). Disney have got a very big year in films in 2010 with Alice In Wonderland, Toy Story 3, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Tron Legacy and this. I’m slowly warming to this the more that I see from it, I’ve always liked Jake Gylanhaal, it’s good to see him do something more action packed, from the trailer he looks like he spends much of the movie jumping around like coked up Kangaroo(nothing wrong with that!). I’m also looking forward to it for Toby Kebbell and Gemma Arterton two of the UK’s best young talents. They should have cast a few more Persians though it looks like a bunch of English people wearing eye liner and dyed black hair, its the 21^st century now I should think films can be a bit more realistic. Look’s like a lot of fun though.
