Another Trailer For Peter Weir’s The Way Back – Starring Colin Farrell, Ed Harris & Jim Sturgess
Nov 7th

Yahoo! Movies! have released a new trailer for Peter Weir’s wonderful looking ‘The Way Back’. I’ve been sold on this film ever since it was announced. From the trailer it looks like with five Oscar nominations Peter Weir (Master And Commander, The Truman Show, Witness) may be in the mix once again to bring home that faceless gold man. The cast he has assembled is stellar in Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Mark Strong and Saoirse Ronan. The Way Back is set for release December 26th.
The Way Back is the fact-based story of the escape of soldiers from a Siberian gulag in 1940. It is based on several sources, most notably the Slavomir Rawicz book The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom. The book is Rawicz’s account of being captured by the Red Army in 1939 and his journey to freedom with other inmates. The group crossed the Siberian arctic, the Gobi desert and the Himalayas, finally settling in Tibet and India.
First Image From ‘Man On A Ledge’ – Starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris & Jamie Bell

Summit Entertainment have unveiled the first image from the set of Man on a Ledge. Which as you can see if you squint (or click on the image for high resolution) stars Sam Worthington as the man on the ledge – more titillating he’s also a wanted fugitive with ‘an ulterior objective.’ I’m down for this, cracking supporting cast in Elizabeth Banks, Anthony Mackie, Tintin Jamie Bell, Ed Harris and Edward Burns. Suspense thriller are right up my street! Check out the synopsis below.
An ex-cop and now wanted fugitive (Sam Worthington) stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while a hard-living New York Police Department hostage negotiator (Elizabeth Banks) tries to talk him down. The longer they are on the ledge, the more she realizes that he might have an ulterior objective.
[The] ensemble cast [includes] Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), who portrays Worthington’s best friend and ally and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) who is Worthington’s younger brother and ardent supporter. Also along for the ride is four-time Oscar® nominee, Ed Harris (Pollock) who plays a powerful businessman, while Edward Burns (27 Dresses) is a rival negotiator who tries to swoop in when he believes Banks has a conflict of interest. Newcomer Genesis Rodriguez (Casa di me Padre) plays Bell’s girlfriend who along with Bell, tries to prove Worthington’s innocence.

The Way Back Stills – Starring Ed Harris, Mark Strong, Colin Farrell & Jim Sturgess
Dec 24th
The Way Back is Peter Weir’s first film since Master and Commander and stars Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Mark Strong and Saoirse Ronan, the film follows “Seven courageous multi-national prisoners discover the true meaning of friendship as their epic journey takes them across thousands of miles of hostile terrain en-route to India and their freedom.” From the premise and the brilliant cast this looks like after five times being nominated this could be Peter Weir’s elusive Oscar winner. I’m sold on this, definitely one of my most anticipated of 2010. For more stills check out quietearth
