Simon Pegg Talks About ‘The World’s End’ The Final Installment In The ‘Three Flavours Cornetto’ Trilogy
Jun 10th

Speaking to Ain’t It Cool News Simon Pegg shed some light on his eagerly anticipated next collaboration between himself and Edgar Wright. He hopes to complete a first draft with Wright before shooting ‘Star Trek 2′ for the tentatively titled ‘The World’s End,’ the final part of the ‘Three Flavours Cornetto’ trilogy, the series of insanely entertaining movies directed by Edgar Wright and starring Pegg and Nick Frost in the two lead roles: “We already started the conception process, so it’s just a question of when we can get together. I’m just about to start shooting a movie here in the UK, so maybe between that and ‘Star Trek 2′ we might get a chance to bang out a first draft if we’re lucky.”
The writor-actor also explains that their next movie isn’t going to be the same as ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz,’ while still trying to manage fans expectations: “I wouldn’t want to become predictable or be the guys who do that. The next thing that we do will hopefully be… you know, in writing our new thing, Edgar and me have been very determined – that we’re going to start in earnest very, very soon – to not just do the same thing again, to do something very different. Not to the point of alienating people who want something, but just give people something new and something different. You can’t just stay where you are forever. You have to mutate to survive, and I think we’re going to make sure that we do that. I’d hate to become stale and predictable. People are already making films that are kind of like the sort of thing we might do. I want to stay a little bit ahead of the curve at least.”
‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ are both two of my favourite films of the last decade, both thoroughly worthy of their cult classic status. I couldn’t be more excited by this film!
Simon Pegg Says That The Final Installment In The ‘Three Flavours Cornetto’ Trilogy Could Arrive Next Year
Mar 10th
Speaking to MTV News on the promotional campaign for ‘Paul’ Simon Pegg revealed that the final part of the ‘Three Flavours Cornetto’ trilogy, the series of insanely entertaining movies directed by Edgar Wright and starring Pegg and Nick Frost in the two lead roles, could be coming as early as next year:
“Edgar has coughed up that ['Scott Pilgrim'] furball and we’re now in the process of regurgitating ['Paul'], so Edgar and I are planning to get together in the next few months to start working on the next in the ‘Blood and Ice Cream’ series,” Pegg told us, adding that he hopes his good pal Frost will be “more involved in the creation of that.”
“We’re hoping — hoping, fingers crossed — maybe next year would be a good time to make it, even release it,” he said.
But don’t hold him to that time table. Pegg was quick to issue a warning: “We would like that in an ideal world, but it’s not a fact, nor should it be disseminated as such.” As he wisely points out, “On the Internet, you have a lot to answer for!”
