Jul 11th
The good folks over at Warner Bros have unveiled these first two posters for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming sequel ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.’ The posters have Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law front and centre with Noomi Rapace and Jared Harris lingering mysteriously in the background.
Very little details about the film have been released at this point in time. All we know for sure is that the film follows the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.), and his longtime trusted associate, Dr. Watson (Law), as they match wits to overcome villainous shenanigans. Along for ride include Noomi Rapace as a gypsy, Stephen Fry as Sherlock’s older brother Mycroft, and Jared Harris as Sherlock’s arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty. ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ is set for release December 16th, 2011. Expect a teaser trailer this week – fingers crossed!

Focus Features have released this new trailer and a bunch of images for Lone Scherfig’s upcoming romantic drama ‘One Day.’ The film is based on the internationally praised best-selling novel by David Nicholls and stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess as two students who meet on July 15th, 1988, on the night of their graduation. She is a working class girl of principle and ambition, he is a wealthy charmer. The two become fast friends and the story follows them every July 15th over the following 20 years as their lives encompass love and loss, heartbreak and success, hopes fulfilled and dreams shattered.
A charming story of a couple as they grow through life as quarrelling meant-to-be lovers……I’m in! The film co-stars Patricia Clarkson, Romola Garai, Jamie Sives, Rafe Spall, Ken Stott and Jodie Whittaker. Look out for ‘One Day’ in UK cinemas August 26th and August 19th in the US.
New Poster For ‘Warrior’ – Starring Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton & Nick Nolte
Jun 16th
Lionsgate (via Moviefone) have released this new poster for Gavin O’Connor’s Mixed Martial Arts drama ‘Warrior.’ The film stars two of the very best young actors around in Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) and Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom). As an MMA fan and a keen admirer of both Hardy and Edgerton I’m thoroughly stoked for this flick! ‘Warrior’ opens September 9th in the US, and September 23rd in the UK.
Two brothers face the fight of a lifetime – and the wreckage of their broken family – within the brutal, high-stakes world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting in Lionsgate’s action/drama, Warrior. An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Conlon (Hardy) returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father (Nick Nolte), a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan (Edgerton), a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father.
Amy Adams Joins Philip Seymour Hoffman & Joaquin Phoenix In Paul Thomas Anderson’s Next Film
Jun 1st
Deadline are reporting that Amy Adams has joined Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film, an untitled Scientology inspired 1950s-set religious drama. This is the project that Anderson has worked on for a long time, once under the title ‘The Master.’ Production on the film is set to begin next month and will star Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix. Adams is coming off her Oscar-nominated performance in ‘The Fighter,’ and she will do this film before starting production on ‘Man of Steel,’ playing Lois Lane in the Zack Snyder-directed Superman franchise reboot.
The film is said to centre on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as “the Master” (Philip Seymour Hoffman ) whose faith-based organization begins to catch on in America, and a young alcholic drifter (Joaquin Phoenix) who becomes his right-hand man only to begin questioning his manipulative mentor. “The Master” creates the faith-based organization after witnessing the horrors of WWII, in an attempt to rediscover who he is in post-war America. Laura Dern, Jesse Plemons, Lena Endre and David Warshofsky are also set to star in the film.
Two UK Posters For ‘Last Night’ – Starring Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes, Keira Knightley & Guillaume Canet
May 30th
A complex tale of temptation and betrayal…tut tut tut. According to the synopsis – they are usually spot on – the story follows a married couple (Keira Knightley and Sam Worthington), apart for a night while the husband takes a business trip with a colleague (Eva Mendes) to whom he’s attracted. While he’s resisting temptation, his wife encounters her past love (Guillaume Canet). Sounds pretty intriguing, the four lead actors involved only help crank up my anticipation levels. Check out the full synopsis and one-sheet version of the poster below. ‘Last Night’ is set for release June 3rd in the UK
Set in New York City, Last Night is the story of a married couple that while apart for one night, is confronted by temptation that may decide the fate of their marriage. Joanna (Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley) and Michael Reed (Sam Worthington) are 7 years into a successful and happy relationship. They are moving along in their lives together until Joanna meets Laura (Eva Mendes), the stunningly beautiful work colleague whom Michael never mentioned. While Michael is away with Laura on a business trip, Joanna runs into an old but never quite forgotten love, Alex (Guillaume Canet) and agrees to have drinks with him. As the night progresses and temptation increases for the couple, each must confront who they are inside and outside of their relationship. Last Night is ultimately a film about choices – the choice you make to be with someone, to give yourself physically and emotionally, and how to survive all three. Last Night stars Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Eva Mendes, Guillaume Canet, Griffin Dunne, Daniel Eric Gold, Scott Adsit, Stephanie Romanov. The film is directed by Massy Tadjedin.
